The THINGS they say that ANNOY me!!!

Hi all
Was just thinking over all the things that anti VLCD's say that annoy me!
All of which are uneducated opinions:p

1. " You will just pile all the weight back on once you eat normal food!"
not true!! If you control your eating you wont pile on the lbs!!! Go back to the way you used to eat, and yes, of course you will pile on the lbs, but thats true of ANY diet!

2. "Thats SO unhealthy!!!
Being OBESE is unhealthy!, whats so unhealthy about having all the nutrition your body needs? And in the process losing weight, becoming fitter and MUCH more healthy??

3. "That diet is just not NATURAL!!"
Not natural?? Ketosis is a natural state for your body to go into! Thats why we have fat stores, to use them up for energy when required, whats NOT natural about that??

4. "Losing weight more slowly means you are more likely to keep it off!"
Understanding why you gained the weight in the 1st place, understanding your triggers and learning to have a more positive mind frame and recognising your emotional hungers is more likely to help you keep the weight off for good!

5. "youre fine the way you are!!"
If i was FINE i would not be OBESE! If i was FINE i would not be miserable!!

6. " Just exercise more and eat less, you DONT need anything else"
You think i DONT know that??? Its obviously something i cant "just do"! I need to understand why i behave the way i do and need to learn positive ways to turn that round!

Anyone agree with me??
If you have any to add then please do:)

excellent post jellybabie

another one is

Ohh you have lost enough weight now even though you still may be 5/6 stone overweight hmmmm!!

great post and all comments have been said to me over the week too.
in the end we're all doing this diet for our own health benefits and not seeking approval off negative thinking people. good look on your journey to skinnydom

Number 6 really bugs me!

It's like telling an alcoholic 'well just have an orange juice'. I was advised 'ask your gp to refer to you a dietician' I am NOT an idiot, and I'm perfectly capable of understanding what a healthy diet.

I'm looking forward to in several years time saying 'hey, remember when you said......' :p

I know most people say this stuff out of concern, and it doesn't make me angry, but the 'see a dietician' comment came from a virtual stranger, so was more than likely just coming from a patronising, judgemental place

I must admit, I probably said all the stuff above when one of my friends was doing LL a couple of years ago - not to her, but to my husband. It was probably borne out of jealousy that she was tackling her weight and I wasn't ready to, though - which is most likely at the root of a lot of it ....

One of my friends has a little nugget for me each day, slagging off VLCDs - 'so that you have a balanced picture'. Yeah, cheers, thanks for that!

I am hoping to start LL this week, (Docters Tuesday) and have had all those comments to some extent from family members etc. I let it get to me last time I was going to start LL, and now 2 years on after going on other diets, I am another stone heavier and convinced this is the only way forward for me.

I am not telling some people that I will be on LL for those reasons. They will not listen me, so I cant be bothered to tell them.

Roll on next week!

really good post

I completely agree I had an arguement with two of my "skinny friends" just before I started LL and they brought every single one of them up!! I'm now nearly five weeks in and have lost 1st 8, and they haven't mentioned it at all! what is that about??

Thank you, I reall wasn't fishing for compliments(or strokes ha)!

"your taking this diet too far, you should stop now as your starting to look ill" - which translates to ---
"your looking better than me now and I look fatter than you, stop before I have to do something about my weight"
