Hopeless but harmless serial dieter

I must have tried every diet under the sun, from Cabbage Soup right through the alphabet and back to Cambridge.
Getting the weight off was no trouble at all compared to keeping it off. Low Carb diets were the worst, as soon as I started eating again the weight piled on rapidly and although I lost 5 stones, I put 4 of them back on!
I’ve been doing Slimfast for 3 weeks and have lost 13lbs, which has pleased me.
Last week, hubby and I had to go to 3 evening events which meant eating so I SF’d on my free days, but did low fat on the days we had to go out. I lost 4lbs!
My son, who is a doctor and dead against low carb diets, said that his patients who have gallstones, and have to eat low fat, lose weight steadily and keep it off.
He has sent me a Rosemary Conley cookery book in the post today, and it is a revelation. He wants me to try it for a month and keep a diary. So here I am. Any tips will be gratefully received I can tell you!

Hi Lizz
Welcome onto the rosemary conley bit. I have also done most diets but managed to lose quite a bit on cambridge last year but due to moving and xmas ( and my little boy wanting to just drink milkshake) I stopped doing it. ( managed to put about 5 lb on.
I moved to ww after xmas ( no joy, just doesn`t click) but then found Rosemary class. And i just love it. I can feed the family on it. It has changed my whole attitude to "diet" and exercise.

I would say write everything down and weigh/measure for a few weeks until you get used to the portions.
How lovely your son got you the book, good luck and let us know how your getting on xxx

Hi Lizz I've been on the diet for 8 months now and still find it good to get along with. I can cook proper meals with no faffing about just keeping an eye on the fat. I have learnt a lot about portion sizing from doing this too. Like Sazzy said do weigh/measure for a while till you get used to things and do drink plenty of water it really makes a difference.

Good luck and feel free to screamin my direction if you have any questions.

Jules
