Cambridge Magazine....

....question for CDCs 'in the know'....

why don't Cambridge sell their magazine commercially (like LighterLife) ???

are we missing a trick here ?

seems that LighterLife do lots of advertising.....TV, roadshow (LL on tour - during May 2008), magazine...etc etc but yet no-one seems to have heard of Cambridge ????!!!! yet Cambridge has been around for a lot longer and (by all accounts) CD packs taste better than the others.....

anyone know why we're not good at advertising CD success ????

thanks

good point... when is cd magazine out? and how do i get one?

got 2 LL mags in the house from a girl at work

Was wondering about that too!! The LL advertising machine is at full speed ahead:confused::confused:. In all the mags (Woman, Best etc etc - there is always an advert about the diet) Surely Cambridge, as the original(?) version of this diet should be taking poll position in this? Perhaps though, they don't see the necessity of doing the same - I would imagine that the diet would be familiar to most over 40's? (who at least would've heard of the name of it!)

That question was asked on my training day 2 weeks ago to the manager of Cambridge. He said it wasn't financially viable at present and that we are the biggest adverts for the diet, so we are to spread the word as much as possible. Apparently, there's no better advert than a successful client talking to an overweight friend, telling them how they did it! However, I do agree with you all that a big campaign behind us would help x

Great question!

It would cost too much at present to do this and the cost would be borne by the customer. In order to keep our prices low we rely on PR rather than advertising. PR is free advertising costs and those costs would have to be passed on.

I see what you're saying Linda.....but the LL mag sells at £3.20....the CD mag is already being produced and sells for £1 from CDCs - so how can it not be financially viable....... to sell it via Supermarkets, newsagents etc and charge, say £3.....

potential LL 'customers' are very willing to pay £3.20 for their mag....so why not pay £3 for the CD one ???

I just think that CD should be doing more to celebrate their successes....after all the 'brand' will be 25 years old next year and are (imo) the vlcd providing the greatest variety of choice......

I agree it would be good to have more publicity.

The mag costs £1 - question I suppose is how many have been sold compared the cost of production to date?

Maybe in time this will happen.

I didn't even know there was a Cambridge magazine!!!! I have bought the LL one tho - it all helps :p

It's a pity that CDC's can't just decide to buy a load and get a local newsagents to sell them for them for a split of the profits, imagine how much more business that could bring you!

I know....think it's cos not all CDCs promote the mag.....which is a shame :(

I think it's great and try to give to any of my customers who are interested...

let's hope CD HQ decide that this could be a runner commercially....

....which I think it definitely would be - and increased sales would help with production costs vs sales revenue equation....people would definitely snap it up ! even if a month or two trial was tested in a small area to measure uptake / demand....

You'd think they would offer people currently using CD a monthly subscription to be delivered to their door. I'd definately put my name down for it!

Me too hun .... I didn't know there was a mag but I will definately be asking my lovely CDC to get me a copy.

The magazine is quarterly not monthly. The next one is available for CDC's to order on 30th June.

ALL CDC's can get this. They can be ordered in one's.

I give every one of my clients a copy of this free of charge and it is given to every new starter.

CDC's can charge for the magazine but I know of many that just give them away to their clients.
