Had enough of the almost constant bleeding,

Im really happy at how well CD is working for me, and that i'm losing weight fast, but I dont know if I can carry on, simply because of the irratic bleeding i'm suffering from. I've posted about it before, and was hoping it was sorted as my Dr prescribed hormone pills, as well as my pill. The Dr told me to have my break, then take my pill and hormone tablet for a week, then that should work until my next break, but its not and it's really getting me down, I keep re-starting my hormone tablet when I re-start bleeding when I shouldnt, but that takes about 4 days to dry up the bleeding. It's really getting me down, and making me feel weak. I'm also very worried that my periods will not go back to a regular pattern once I come off the diet, as I've read posts from people who say theirs haven't. I dont understand why Im getting so much extra bleeding, as when people usually dont eat, through an eating disorder, their periods stop altogether, I wish mine would.:cry:

You have my sympathies hun, mine has just started to do the same thing even with having the injection! Its sooooo annoying!
If anyone gives you a solution, pass it on hun.
But other than that, I can only wish you luck and hope we can put up with it!

Hi Hun, I admire the fact that you have stuck to the diet despite having 6+ weeks of TOTM. I hope things work out for you and your body gives you a break xx

The only thing that's worked for me are Synarel (which ruins your joints) and Cerazette (a new mini pill). If I get too heavy though it doesn't work & I bleed again. A good incentive to keep my weight down!

BTW when people's periods stop it's because they have so little body fat their body is shutting down - it's not good.

I have tried everything to stop my bleeding - what pills are you on? Provera or Norethisterone?

The Dr has put me on northisterone. He told me to take it for about 1 week when I start my pill, but the only thing that stops the bleeding is if I take it all the time (apart from my break from my pill) but I really dont want to be taking hormone pills all the time.
I was on cerazette but that didnt work, so he changed my pill to norimin, which he says is one of the strongest, but it obviously didnt work.

I know how you feel hun. my totm came almost as soon as I started CD so its been going on for about 5 days :( which is not normal for me. Well done on doing it 4 6+ weeks, I hope someone can come up with a solution.

I cant help but think, I still want to lose another 4.5 stones, so Im looking at being on the diet for at least another 4.5 months, and thats without however long it takes to sort itself out after, I don't know if I can stand it for all that while.

Have you thought about alternatives to the pill?? I have an IUS (medicated coil) fitted, and the only period I've had in the last 7 years came in the month between old coil out and new one in :D

Dieting don could get the same problem with the coil. Dd - go back to see your GP, it may be possible for you to take the norethisterone continually. I know that you say that you do not want to be on hormones but a hormone flooded body is a natural human state. Women are designed to be endlessly pregnant/breastfeeding so it is actually more natural NOT to be having periods during the reproductive years (and so therefore it is neither unnatural or harmful to take hormones). Go back to your GP and let him suggest something else before you give up the diet.

Hi! i thought this was just me! i had a period 2 wees ago ( that is 2 weeks after starting CD SS and now i have it again! it is very odd and i didn't think it was related to the diet... will this go on every 2 weeks for the duration of the diet? i can't handle that since i get very bad pain during my periods ... hope it is just a one time thing and my next one is a month away!

Oh you poor thing :hug99: I don't do CD I am on Slimming World but my periods are really poo at the moment and that gets me down in the dumps. I cant imagine how you feel with full time periods.

I took 6 norethisterone a day and it still didn't stop my periods. I had very sore boobs though!

I didn't get on with Cerazette at first but gave it another try when I was a bit lighter. I still get break through bleeding if I go over nine and a half stone. Norimin did nothing for me either. I think you're meant to take 2 mini pills if you're over 11st, although obviously speak to your doctor and don't listen to some random stranger on the internet!

Hi Lovely

I am the opposite of you, I am having to do this diet to either prove my doctor right or wrong!!

I have been bleeding with the odd few days relief since Feb 07!!! They have gien me norethistherone (sp?) but this only works ona temp basis. I have not yet started CD so I cant comment on what might happen when you finish, but stopping the diet might not be the answer.

You have my sympathies hun. I just want s£x, the bleeding I have come to accept but my poor hubby thinks I am a nun!!! I hope it gets better for you and it soon sorts itself out. I just wanted to advise that stopping now mighty not mean the bleeding will stop.

hi all ive been on cd for 3week and been on totm for 2 weeks i didnt think it was because of the diet, but now its making me think

Eek, I hope I don't have a period!
I have the implant, and in the 8ish months I've had it, I've had 2 periods, but one was when I lost some weight and you've got me all worried they're gonna come back

There's tonnes of contraceptives now, e.g. the injection and the patch, you could try them cause they're not a long-term thing unlike the coil/implant.

hon, sorry to say that i have the implant too, have been period free for a couple of years other than once when i lost weight fast due to stress and it's back. it seems to effect a lot of us the same regardless of why we aren't getting them usually...

abz xx

Damn.
I was really enjoying not having them :p

I don't get pain too badly though.
Well I do, and it's cripplingly bad, but then I have one paracetamol and it goes completely until the next month
Lucky me. :p

The Dr recommended that I don't have a coil fitted, as I havent had children, they also said the injection probably wouldnt help with the bleeding, as one of the pills they put me on was the equivilent, and that didnt help. I think that Im just going to constantly take the northisterone, and just have a break from it when I have my break from the pill, and hopefully that'll do the trick.
