Becoming a counsellor

Hi, my counsellor has given me a sponsor form and I was wondering how difficult it is to become a CD counsellor. I feel I know the diet quite well, and did Lighterlife and previously ww. I would have to lose more to drop my BMI but can anyone give me advice pse?

I have the impression from the posts on here about peoples experiences with their counsellors that CD arent that fussy!!!

No offence intended to all the great CDCs out there, and especially not to mine who is an absolute star (She is a wonderful ambassador to CD, and I cant wait to get to goal so I can buy her a hugh bunch of flowers to show her how much her support has meant to me).

But it seems from all the comments on this forum that the standard of CDCs varies so much, some seem so un-proffessional.

I am sure you will get through the training, if you are on mini-mins alot, you prob know the diet inside out.
good luck xx

Well she did explain the training side of things, my BMI has to be 27 and then she can sponsor me if i want to do it. I was the one to express interest in doing it as I think the diet is very successful if followed properly.

Is there a lot more to know then? I assumed Id find out more on the training days.

lesly can i ask, as your a counsellor you may know. i am trying to start the diet but on the cambridge website there is not a counsellor in guernsey where i live, do u know off hand if i can do it through a GP? xx

I wouldn't think there's much more to know than you do already :) probably just a bit more about contraindications etc and the admin side of things.

AFAIK your BMI has to be <28, not <27, but maybe she said that to be on the safe side.

No, it has to be a CDC. You'll either have to travel, or do something different.

well thats rubbish! i live on an island and cant really spent over £100 on a plane ride just to get weighed :( todays going greeeeat

Have you tried contacting head office? maybe they have a solution?

Ah, I'm pleased to hear that your Counsellor did explain about training to you...and hopefully the business plan. It rather sounded that you'd just been handed an application form!

There is lots more involved, of course, which you will have the opportunity to learn during training.

Your BMI needs to be 28, and you're nearly there, so it sounds perfect timing. I hope it works out for you.

Please find below a detailed explanation of how the application and selection process works.

The Application process works as follows:
support and mentor role.

Once you have expressed your interest in becoming a Counsellor to your current Counsellor they will then be able to have a chat with you and check if you fit into the criteria detailed below

a. Your BMI at the time of application should be 28 or less

b. You should have used more than one of the Cambridge Diet steps

c. You have known your current Counsellor for a suitable period of time

d. You recognise and understand the responsibilities and commitments in becoming a Counsellor. ( Your counsellor will be able to arrange a meeting with you to go through all of the different criteria in more detail).

All application forms are sent to your sponsor first for you to complete and are forwarded back to myself, with their supporting comments for selection.

2. Once your application form has been received, you will receive a telephone interview about your application form and should you be successful will be passed forward for selection to attend one of our training days.

- If you are successful, you will be offered either verbally or by letter a selection of two day training courses, the second following three months after the first, based either at Corby or one of our regional venues.

- If you are unsuccessful, you will receive a letter to this effect.

This process can take between 5-10 working days depending on the demand.
