Hi All,
I lost my mum last Saturday so never felt like eating for the days leading up to her death or after .My mum's funeral is on Friday and I'm in Kitosis ,how do I jump out safely for Friday to send her off and have a few drinks but still use the 'right' foods to maintain a more natural weight loss? What are the best foods to eat ?I will go back to Lipotrim neek week but I think it would be right to celebrate my mums life with my mates. You only have one mum I can always go back to the Lipotrim success story.Mum is happy now back in the arms of my Dad an everlasting marriage in heaven.
Thanks in advance what a great bunch you lot are on this forum that I've read for weeks now.

Dear Lipoman

Firstly, please accept my sincere condolences - I will add you and your family to my prayers.

If I could just let you know I can remember when I drank for the first time when I had been on the Lipotrim diet - it wasn't good! It only took 2 drinks and I felt absolutely awful for the next day or two. The only upside was that I was a very cheap date!

Pure protein should keep you in ketosis (chicken, turkey, lean ham etc) but won't line the stomach too well if you are planning to down units of alcohol.

Whatever you choose to do - take care and remember she is probably so proud of you for taking control of your weight issues she would not be at all upset if you decided to toast her with Adam's ale.

dear lipoman
:hug99:so sorry about your mum.

i know what you mean regarding the diet and social situation, it's my brothers wedding next wk and after arguing with myself over and over i've decided i'm gonna come off the diet that day and stick mainly to high protein a bit like atkins.
hope it helps!:)

so sorry about your mum
take the advice given above and give her a good send off, we'll all be here to offer support when you resume and get the weight off

ian, sorry hun for your loss, u know where we are if you wanna chat and hope she gets a good send off jx

I'm loving Dancings advice. I agree....I think this is the once instance where coming off the diet is not a bad thing. Just go and remember your mum and dont feel guilty if you do eat. The scales will go up....maybe quite a few lbs, but it will be glycogen....not fat. Next week we will all be here for you to help get you back on track with the diet mate.

I hope the day is not too painful for you.

Just wanted to add my condolences Ian and hope everything goes well on Friday.

You have 3 choices re eating/drinking ...
1. carry on with abstinence and lipotrim and drink water
2. be careful and have low carb, high protein options
3. eat/drink whatever you feel/want/need to

Any of those choices in the circumstances are down to how you feel on the day and no-one would blame you whichever one you make. You can get back on the diet, if you come off it ... and if you need the food/drink to get through this time then that is ok. Do make sure you have something substantial if you are going to drink alcohol though, as your body won't be use to it - and you'll suffer afterwards.

Dear Lipoman, I am so sorry for your loss. It is such a sad time but also a time to celebrate her life with your family. I think you should do what your heart thinks is right. If you want to eat and drink i'd say come off it gradually now eating in moderation and then you can go back on LT after the funeral. If you have too much alcohol when you are not eating too much you will be at risk of becomming ill and it will also make you feel worse afterwards which you do not need at this time so just be careful. I hope the funeral goes well for you and i'm sure your mum and dad will me proud of you. Take care xxx

Well I think everyone else covered the food and drink advice so I just wanted to send you a big hug and say it is never easy when someone so close passes on and I believe your right she will be with you dad again now! Thinking of you hun! You know we're here for you!
Take care.

Hi...again sorry to hear about your mum.
Drinking in Keotosis is dangerous...You need to eat some carbs to ensure you are out of keotosis at least a day before you drink.
IMHO i would go celebrate your mums life and think about LT afterwards.
Take care and hope all goes well
You can use the list i sent you but just add some carbs to it hun
But make sure you are out of keotosis x
keotosis and drinking info below:
DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL IF YOU ARE KETOTIC!
Alcohol is a powerful inhibitor of gluconeogenesis. In fact, it forces part of the gluconeogenic metabolic process into reverse. This means that if all the glucose in the blood is being derived from gluconeogenesis then the consumption of alcohol will inevitably cause the blood glucose level to fall. Worse still, the alcohol also stops ketone body production, thus leaving the brain entirely without fuel.
A person who is ketotic is 100% reliant on gluconeogenesis to maintain adequate levels of glucose in the blood. If, under these circumstances alcohol is taken, the person will become disorientated and might lose consciousness, not just from the alcohol, but from low blood sugar. Needless to say, this could be very dangerous, and even fatal.
Alcohol does not have these effects if the glycogen stores in the liver are normal. Under these circumstances the blood glucose level in the blood is maintained by the breakdown of liver glycogen, a process that is not influenced by alcohol. If a person becomes confused under these circumstances it is due simply to the pharmacological effects of the alcohol

:gen126: Sorry to hear about your loss. It is really lovely that you have comfort in the fact that your Mum is happy now and that you want to celebrate her life.

Im no expert on LT, but from what I can gather if you dont want to have the constraints of what you can and cannot eat on Friday then you might be better doing a refeed this week so that your body is prepared for Friday. As you say you only have one Mum, and Friday is a special day to mark your Mum's life, so if you are intending to drink then maybe getting out of ketosis would be the best thing.

You can get back on LT next week and you appear to have a great resolve and attitude so im sure you will be able to get back into it again.

Whatever you decide to do, I hope that Friday works out well and that you hold on to the happy memories of your Mum.

Love
Julz

Thank you to everyone who has replied with help and advice.I knew I would not be disappointed its that special thing about this forum coming to the fore again.
I've only just got back from my Mum's as my twin sister is taking our mums loss really bad ( had to get he doctor ,Clare lived 24/7 with Mum),so I've stayed with her.Funeral arrangements keep you busy which helps at this difficult time .Everything is going well over the arrangements I think Mum and Dad are smiling down on us .Only thing was I found myself dismantling the front of Dad's grave as the council won't dig until everything is out of the way and it needed doing asap. Heard some dancing and laughing below at the cemetery while I was removing the front plinth and stones.
As I say to everyone who could deny my Mum and Dad back in eachothers arms !
Back to the diet next week .Thanks once again you lot ,be lucky.
Ian
PS Niki you are a special person
