Have Always Thought Of Trying A Stephen King Book.... But Always Get Putt Off By The Thought Of It Being Too Scary And Creepy. Are His Books Really Horror+++++ ?

Which Ones Will You Recommend?

Im not a reader of his but i LOVE Richard Laymon have you read any of his?Once i finish all his i think ill start Stephen King books lol

Ive read them all, so far, not really scary in my opinion, more complex and thought provoking than just pure horror. Im a bit of a wimp, cant do scary as i cant sleep (cant even watch scary films)

I've just found one this weekend that i've missed along they way "Blaze", so i'm reading that in the next week or so.
Im quiet sad, i get them bought every birthday and xmas.
I also read james herbert as i find them similar.

Im A Bit Like Ur Self Golden Girl.... If I Watch Or Read Anything Scary Then Have A Problem Sleeping. But If U Say Ur Alright Readin Them Then Might Give It A Go. Which One Would You Recommend. The Best So Far???

I loved the shawshank redemption and the green mile short stories, im reading bag of bones athe mo, not scary, more psychological thriller material!

ive only ever read 1 stephen king book and that was misery,it was a fab book to read, had me on the edge of my bed reading it,the film doesnt do it justice,
elaine x

The Shining

Nailed.On.Classic. FACT :D

I agree with Elaine. You should read Misery. It is a real edge-of-seater.........much better than the film. Most Stephen Kings are thrillers rather than out-and-out horrors. Another good one, although quite a long book, is The Stand.

I used to read all his books - but after I read 'It' which was about a clown - it scared me so much I haven't read another!!! Salem's Lot is brilliant as well.

hiya, Stephen King books well

Cujo - My first experiance of King and a book i re read every so often.

Geralds Game

Misery

Carrie

Sketeton Crew (short stories better if your already a fan i think)

The Green Mile

just my favourites:)

I love Carrie- by stephen king,
I actually couldnt stop reading it...and i usually hate books like that!

Highly recommended

is that Beast house etc?? I think those are brilliant!! recommend those if u like beasts in houses and the like:p

Ive read all his books but after Black house which he co wrote with Peter Struab (not sur of surname) i felt sick and stopped.
There is a book in the Richard Bachman (Stephen Kings pen name) collection called Thinner. Its about a gypsy curse. It might give u nightmares about lipotrim......lol
His earlier stuff is the best horror. U wont beat the shining, carrie, The dead Zone, Cujo (very sad) and pet sematary is very horrific. Misery and Gerald's games are along the same line but his later writings are just as good in film form.
Maybe it would be an idea to get some of his short stories so if u arnt into one u can just skip 2 the next.
Skelenton Crew, Four past Midnight.
U might be better to read some true crime if u want to scare urself stupid. I have just finished Manhunters which is about how and why profiles were introduced. Its heavy reading but well written.
