Quick Q - milk allowance (A)

do people actually measure out things like milk and cheese? I just kinda guess - haven't weighed anything since I started, not milk, cheese, cereal etc etc!

i drink skimmed milk, but only have it on cereal and i don't bother measuring my milk as it would definately be under 350ml, but i measure my cheese every single time...purely because it's high in fat and i don't want to accidently have double!

Hi
Have to admit to not weighing/measuring milk. I allocate myself 35 syns over a week so if i do have a bit more that i should I hope it falls into the leftover syns - same goes for the odd oxo cube, squirt of tomotoe puree or spponful of gravy granules! Seems to have worked for me!
Good Luck

I don't usually measure milk but I don't like skimmed milk ice lattes as they're too watery. Checked out the Starbucks website and found out that a tall ice drink is 254ml which means I can have it with semi instead of skimmed. That's the only reason I was asking.

For those interested, for iced/hot drinks at Starbucks it breaks down as:

Tall: 254ml
Grande: 473ml
Venti: 591ml

I do measure everything else (cheese, bread, cereal, etc) because I know I will eat too much otherwise! Although I pretty much know how many strokes on the grater to get the right amount of cheese!

I'm guilty of splitting my healthy extras. For example, I'll have 1 alpen light and 1 slice of bread from small loaf to make up 1 healthy extra. Or if I'm using a small amount of milk, I'll use half milk/half cheese for one allowance. I've also been known to use cheese from B on a green day as A instead (eg feta). (shocking!!)

Does anyone else do this?

i never measure milk, i just add it to tea and occasionally cereal so im probably not going overboard anyway. i do measure (roughly) cheese, i have retro looking type scales so they arent very accurate but i get approx.

I measured them all to start with just to know how much they all looked like and now i just weigh them from time to time to remind myself. My portions do gradually get bigger between weigh-checks!

I'm drinking more milk on this plan than I ever did. Have switched down to skimmed and dont really realise the difference! Pour out 350 mls into a jug and I know its spot on. Use most for porridge or weetabix and still have a drop left for a splash in low-syns hot choc!
