What misperception do people have about you before they get to know you bet

At school today I heard that one parent told another parent she was frightened to approach me as I looked 'teachery'

Another forum reckoned I was 'posh':confused:

I've also been told by a few people that they thought I was scary :confused::confused:

Of course, none of this is true and they realise as soon as they get to know me. Okay...many still find me scary:eek: :D

So, what misperceptions do people have about you before they get to know you better?

A common misconception is that I'm a confident person. It's all an act ... although I'm genuinly getting more confident as I getting thinner :D

People are scared of me usually ( i am what can be described as a rocker) i have my whole arm tattooed, both shoulder blades covered and all along the bottom of my back,as well as 19 piercings. The boots i wear weight 7 lb!! ( me and my cdc weighed them beacause she was amazed how many metal plates could be on a pair of boots) So out of work i can look kinda intimidating, but when people get to know me they are always really shocked! They expect me to have a massive attitude problem and be very cold blah!

But then at least i know the people around me are the ones who can see past all of my metal!! hehe

I also think it was a shock to the people i work with ( im a sales manager and im very professional at work, suited and booted and all that) but when we have dress down days/christmas party thats when the real rocker comes out!!
hehe

OOh this is a goody!!

I've been told all my life that I'm aggressive and scary (!) - which worked to my advantage when I was a teacher lol but my allegedly defensive shell hides a real softy! My feeling is that if people can't be bothered to see below the surface, then I'd rather they thought I was strong and fearless than saw how pathetic I really am! lol

I've been viewed as common because of my tattoos and piercings.

I've been viewed as posh because of my accent.

I can't win! lol

My personal favourite came from a woman I met in a bar, who said she'd seen me in my local tesco and thought that I was a prostitute as I always wear make-up! WTF! Good thing I was a little tiddly and took it quite calmly! lol

It's strange that, as I think that more overweight people are often perceived as being confident.

I suppose you could say that being overweight does call for a certain level of confidence. I always find it odd how people say deep down they want to stay overweight to remain invisible.

I think it's much easier to be invisible when you're slimmer, if you want to be, that is.

I'm sure others will disagree.

OMG Ziggy!! Reminds me of a guy I used to teach piano. He's about 20 yrs old now, but in his late teens, he looked fiercesome. He's about 6'6", weighs about 20 stone I suppose. Was a Goth.

He's putty really. As soft as they come;) I saw him/her the other day, now post Goth period, complete with wig, high heels, handbag and a rather fetching skirt. It did occur to me that he might have been to a fancy dress party, but no...the rest of the family assure me he's 'come out'.

:eek: You little scrubber you ;)

Issy's a scrubber,
Issy's a scubber
Nyah, nyah, na na naaaaaa

:D

People say I am very confident - inside I am often not as confident as I look.

Friends always say I give an honest opinion - even if its not what they want to hear. One friend always reminds me of the first time I met her (OH's know each other), she was sending a friend out to get some wine & named a horrid fizzy cheap brand (anyone guess what?) - I could not help it I just said "can't we get something nicer". Another friend always says she only asks things if she wants to hear the truth - if she wants a specific answer she goes to other people!!!

People say I'm a snob and posh - because of my accent and my nose turns up a bit.I can't help that?!?! Ever since I was a kid people have said that. I suppose now, at my ripe old age, my nose is the only bit of me that doesn't sag, so I should be grateful!!

confident and self assured...
NO WAY
self concious and a worrier

also i think i come across a bit snobish, ( yes i know i do) im im not at all really...im the carboot/charity shop queen (but i like to act a bit posh...makes people wonder....)

i remember when i was in my early 20s. i was the only one at work, who was single, own house, car, holidays etc..and always seemed to have spare cash. they thought i was a rich daddys girl...far from it..i scrimp and save every penny half of my clothes are 2nd hand but i try to look expensive.

also my clients, and collegues are quite wealthy so i have to assume the part too..amazing what a 2nd hand suit, a briefcase and a BMW (paid for by the company ) can do for you. considering my collegue has a pilot for a son. a diamond broker for a husband. a country house, a city pad and a gite in france... i have a bungalow, a ford mondeo and 3 cats! one client was asking my advice on where her pool should be located in the garden and did i think 250K to build a pool was reasonable!! haha..if only they knew :)

Scary is a common one for me as well as confident, "got it together", "knows what's going on", etc, etc....

Whilst all that may well be true I think the biggest shock they get is that I actually have a sense of humour! Another forum thought that I was "too serious"...those that really know me know that humour is a big thing to me! Without it, I would've gone mad by now because I really haven't got a clue what I'm doing at all!!! :) :p
