Calorie help

Hi, just a quick question. If i know my needed calories for energy per day, and know my calories i need to eat per day to lose weight, does it matter what kind of food you eat to achieve the calorie intake?

I eat the healthy microwavable stuff already (says healthy on the pack) and the usually contain around 400 calories per pack and the fat and saturated fat is usually quite low. I plan to stick to eating this stuff, but advice is welcome.

Should i look out for anything else?

Thanks.

as far as weight loss goes it shouldn't make much difference but health wise you really should try and eat healthy foods, and some fresh foods to get all your vitamins and minerals. if your body isn't healthy it won't respond the way you want it to and it will be more difficult to lose weight. especially if you are feeling naff and end up comfort eating.

also make sure you eat some fibre to avoid constipation... you would be amazed how many people on here suffer from it... ha.

Also beware of the sodium content in ready meals- they can cause crazy fluid retention which won't help the scales! Also, if you try & make your own version of most of these meals you'll find they rack up less cals than the ready meals, so it really is worth eating as fresh as you can? I try & avoid them as much as I can tbh? Simply because I've learned I can eat a lot more & better for the same amount of cals!

Choice of food does matter

Hi Volcanicity,

I don't think you can just eat everything 'coz while counting calories you have to make sure your diet is healthy enough to contain adequate vitamins, minerals, protein, carbohydrates, and fiber.

I was a fan of microwave food but people started saying things like how microwave cooking would kill me.

Now I heat up food in the oven instead.

And don't forget to drink plenty of water:p
