Body mass index Question

Just wondering if anybody else uses their own electronic bmi scales & finds a big difference between the chemists calculations & your own?.
On the chemists chart I show as 28.4. But on my own scales and 2 of my friends more expensive scales I show as just under 20 averaging 19.4 over the last week?.

Not sure but I don't think scales measure your BMI, they measure body fat percentage which is different. I could be wrong though. My BMI is 23 but my body fat percentage is 25%.

Well if you are about 8 foot tall then your scales is right otherwise the chemists sounds the right one!

I'm not sure gutted I lost the manual for it now. You do have to enter your height thats why I presumed it was my Bmi?.

yeah def the chemist ...those scales your friends have measure fat in my opinion

LOL !!! I was going to say something similar - you have to use the chemist scales only otherwise you'll just get into a terrible tizz

Thats what I thought at first I'm only 5ft 5". But then when it was the same on three different makes of scales?. I didn't know what to think:confused:

Yeah sounds the same as mine and it is body fat percentage, that is usually what scales measure. BMI is just a standard calculation of weight v height.

If you want to calculate your bmi there are loads of online calculators, you simply enter your height and weight and it will tell you what your BMI is... try this one....

BMI - Body Mass Index: Adult BMI Calculator: English | DNPAO | CDC

I would def bet that the scales are measuring your body fat % - are u male? Cos 20% body fat is very little for a woman!!!!
