I'm doing the old SS with 3 packs a day and have been on it 2weeks but I have had the odd cup of tea with milk.I'm taking 3 cups in 2 weeks so nothing drastic, all times have been when someone who doesn't know I am SS has made it me and I didn't want to appear rude. They havn't made me hungry,I can feel my jeans getting losser so is it REALLY that bad to be having them? i know it won't be the start of the slippery slope as I have been there and done that last year.
Thanks cdg x

My cdc said that it was ok to drink tea and coffee while on cd. Mine said that i could have as many as i liked but to go easy on the milk (i don't have milk or suger in mine anymore) but i used to.

I tend to drink green tea now which is ment to be good for you.

A cdc on here will be able to answer your question better, i hope i have that information right. but hopefully someone on the diet will be able to correct me if i am wrong.

When I first did SS I was a great advocate of doing nothing other than what it says, did 5 months and never cheated however, second time Im having 3 cups per day and its not affecting any losses, maybe its coz Ive a lot less to lose, or maybe first time is golden, but Im more inclined to be laxadaisical (sp) this time. It doesnt lead to a slippery slope, it just helps me get through it. Hmmm, check back with me in 4 weeks and see if Ive messed up :D

I agree

I am new to this and my first week I felt so deprived not even being allowed a cup of tea that I ended up totally blowing it and only losing 2 pounds. This week I have had 2 or 3 cups of tea(with a tiny bit of milk) a day and have changed to to sole source plus and I haven't cheated at all, feel more positive and in control and think I'm more likely to stick to it.

If it means I lose a pound less a week so be it as long as I stay in it for the long haul.

If it doesn't affect your Ketosis, then it's not going to do much damage.

But remember it's a slippery slope. A cup of tea here and there, and before you know it you're thinking, well that didn't affect me, so a couple of biscuits won't hurt either......

So if it is just the odd cup, and it isn't affecting you and making you feel hungry, then I'm sure it's ok. But keep an eye on things:)

I, too, hold my hand up & confess to a drop of skimmed milk in my tea and coffee as whilst on LL last year I got so sick of black drinks. I did ask my cdc before starting about this, and she said, totally unofficially, it wouldnt do any harm but to be careful it didnt become something more.

I am very very careful it is only skimmed milk. Last night Dh made a coffee for me & forgot and used semi. I poured it away. At work I now take my own pot of milk, and if out I carry sweetners as an alternative if skimmed is not available.

All contra the "rules" but I really beleive it is getting me by. I too hope this will stop me having the huge "binging" issues I experienced when I slipped off LL, which, in my head had made food the enemy!!

Sorry, long diatribe but HTH!!!

I think if you are allowed skimmed milk on ss+ I dont think the very odd cup of tea / coffee with skimmed milk is going to do you any harm on ss.

Its not something that would appeal to me though, if coffee (dont drink regular tea) is not made with full fat milk and lots of it you can keep it :) there is no way any amount of skimmed milk would do it for me so I stick to the green and peppermint teas.

what about semi-skimmed milk? and can u have suger in it or not? lol

no to semi skimmed and no to sugar but you can have sweeteners

I have sets of test tubes here with the quanity of bad fat that remains in your body when you eat of drink anything.

A cup of full fat milk is almost a full test tube, half for half fat and skimmed barely shows at the bottom of the test tube.

A quarter pounder cheeseburger has three test tubes of fat!!!

Thanks everybody I'll not feel guilty then LOL I won't let it be the slippery slope as have been there done that last year whilst SS which is why I am back here LOL

Ooh that's good to hear, my tummy is rumbling but I can't face black tea so I will put a dash of milk in it! :)

Thats awful, I only ever eat my own home made burgers now, just think, I used to love Maccyds

I always have a drop of skimmed milk in my coffee...(have about 4 cups a day)...I can't bear it black. My CDC used to have skimmed in her drinks whilst on SS, and it didn't affect her weight loss, and I've lost 22lbs in 4 weeks so I don't feel it's affected mine, either. I find if I'm really hungry a nice coffee takes the edge off.
