Is anyone else as bad as me?

I'm the worst dieter in the world! I've yoyo dieted all my life and when I discovered CD last year I thought I'd found my answer.(hopefully that's still the case) I lost 32lbs, was nowhere near goal at that point but fell off the wagon and then put it all back on again. Started again on 14th jan this year, 1lb heavier than I was starting 1st time, Lost 30lbs and then started mucking about....cheats here and there, then was away for a few days last week so I'd basically been off the diet for a few weeks now. I started again on Monday having put on 9lbs again. I'm hoping I can stick with it and the underlying trend will be weight loss and not gain. I feel motivated just now ( Long may it continue!). I've set myself a mini goal of 2st. Maybe having a smaller loss to concentrate on will help.

Is anyone else this bad? And if anyone has any tips on how to keep myself on the straight and narrow I'd be most grateful!.

Hey chicken

I am similar to you. I tried to get onto the CDSS plan 3 times and kepy cheating. My problem was in the afternoon's when I got really hungry I just gave in - to bread of all things! My counsellor gave me a tip yesterday and that is to split the shakes therefore you can spread them out over the day...I am going to try this! We can do it its just mind over matter. xxx

Been there done that, got the bigger T shirt for doing so :D

I'm back on CD for the 4th time I think (?) lost count really. Had the week from Hell last week. I just couldn't get into it at all and kept eating; nothing too awful but still kept flipping eating. I spent hours reading through the posts here, and looking at the before and after pics on the slideshow and it really helped me. I saw people that were heavier than me who had lost the weight, something which I hadn't been able to imagine before.

Being 18 stone I thought that I was the only big person in the world, I don't know anyone like me in my out of cyber life so I had nothing to go on, I knew that I would feel better, look better etc if I lost weight but I couldn't visualise it at all. By looking at the pics I could, because I could see others that had. I think I had a lightbulb moment and now am really trying hard and am so determined to get this weight off.

Motivation is the key to this diet, you can't let your guard down for a moment, the more weight you have to lose the longer it will take so the harder you have to work at keeping motivated. Just think about the end result, not the trip to getting there. What's a few months out of your life to get the biggest reward that you could ever hope for? Anyway, after the first week, things don't seem so bad anymore, and I am told that it soon becomes routine and therefore gets easier still.

Keep on trying, don't give up, you'll be so cross with yourself in the summer if you don't get some weight off first.

Hi Ti@ra :) The one thing that i do that keeps me motivated is a Blog. I started one after day 3 as i knew if i got past the first 3 days i would stick to it, thankfully i'm now on day 14 :) Each night i basically talk about my day on the diet and any small/big/different changes etc etc! I really find this helps me sooo much!! Maybe that's something you might want to think about?

Good luck! ;)

Well done Feathers, I thought of that after I posted :) I have to agree that a blog is brill at helping to keep the mind focused. It's one thing facing your CDC every week, but a week is a long time if you're struggling isn't it? A blog is the same as facing the CDC but you can do it as often as you feel you need to.

Thank you all. It's good to know I'm not the only one like this. I have to admit I've gone and cheated tonight on day 3. I don't even have an excuse cause I'm on 790 and I had chicken salad for my tea...I just didn't stop eating afterwards!

Oh well, what's done is done and I'll just get right back on. At least coming on here has stopped me eating even more. I DO want to do this...and I WILL do it...I just seem to keep on taking the scenic route!

I will think about doing a blog..I just feel like I wouldn't exactly be an inspiration to anyone reading it.

Anyway, Thank you again. I will go and have a cup of black tea and try to avoid any more food tonight.

Good Luck to you all too.

The blog is for you, you don't need to be an inspiration. Think of it like a diary and write whatever you want. Others will be inspired by the fact that you are just like them, normal. We all have ups and downs on these diets, but we only fail when we give up and you haven't given up. Tomorrow is another day remember :)

Thank you. I sometimes don't feel normal and wonder what I've done to deserve such a weight problem. I don't want to be a super model..just normal! Sorry, I'm just feeling a bit fed up with myself.

:patback: You are 'normal'; 'normal' people have weight issues. Some because they obsess about putting it on, others that obsess about taking it off, and us lot here who are obsessed with losing it and are actually doing something about it.

It's natural to feel fed up, I know how that feels; the realisation of what I have done to myself kicked in only last week, but I can't wallow in that self pity that I had, I did that for years and it got me nowhere, apart from heavier. You've got to find the strength to forgive yourself and move on.

You will be through this diet and out the other side in no time at all, and you will feel so much better about yourself then. You should be feeling proud of yourself for taking these steps to change your life it's not an easy path we tread, and in life there are always others to knock us, we mustn't knock ourselves too.

Thank you Miel, I've been off CD all week. It's my birthday tomorrow so I decided to wait until Monday to restart. Hopefully I can do it this time. Thank you for your support.

Hi Tara Maker,

You have got some excellent advice here on this thread by those who know what you are going through.

You are definitely not alone:hug99:

I think it helps to go through the ritual of taking photos and body measurements along with writing down what it is you want to achieve for yourself.

Setting mini goals that are within your grasp are motivating especially if you reward yourself for each one achieved with a small non food treat.

I think you are right to clean the slate and give yourself a fresh start on Monday and enjoy your birthday tomorrow.

Wishing you a very Happy Birthday for tomorrow:)

Love Mini xxx

Thank you Mini! Yes, I agree....Fab advice. I started a diary today in the members only area so I'm listening to the advice too. Thank you all.

I have also lost 4 st with CD last year, then about a month of successful control over my eating, fell pregnant. In pregnancy I have gained (you guessed it) 4 st, so I was back to where I started.
Umphhhh... OK. I have managed to loose 2st by being careful about what I eat and am now on day 3 of SS.
How to not go back... I am convinced that have I not got pregnant, I would manage to stay the same weight. How? I threw out ALL the clothes that were bigger than size 12. Then when jeans and other clothes felt a bit tight, it was back to veggies and fruit for a day or two, or perhaps two days of CD and I was back on track.

I am a returner, and glad to be so because I know I can shed a lot of weight in a reasonably short time.

I have just discovered CD porridge. What a joy! A hot, 'filling' meal!

I can't afford CD usually but want to lose a stone for Christmas. I have lost 9 and a half stones over the past nine years, and kept them off, but.... I need to lose the last 20lbs.

Good luck to all!
