Hey everyone my name's Chris, i'm 23 and weigh about 26 to 27 stone (scales at home don't read acurate weight and i'm not going to the zoo lol) anyway i think being my weight at my age is really bad and i'm disgusted at myself for letting myself get like this... my confidence has hit rock bottom recently and i find myself getting all upset while i'm sat alone, i always find myself putting on a front for other people and mocking my weight to people as i'm paranoid that if i don't do it, they will.... But my problem is, no matter what i try to do... i can't seem to shift this weight. I found this site by searching weight loss forums on google... i'm just hoping maybe someone here might be able to help me in my fight... i want to get down to about 15st as i'm a big built lad structual wise whether overweight or not... but i just don't know what is the best diet for me.

I try to cut down my food, try to eat better... but nothing seems to work for me.

i hope i havent bored you all with this post and hope to talk to you all very soon :)

regards

Chris

Hi Chris, You have done the right thing by coming here. You don't have to sit alone again, you have us!

Have you previously tried any other diets? It really depends on what you want to do and how you want to do it. There are restrictive meal replacement diets such as Cambridge Diet (CD), Lighter Life (LL) and Lipotrim (LT) that will give fast results or there are the healthy eating diets that allow you to eat a varied but sensible diet that you remain in control of such as Slimming World (SW), Weight Watchers (WW) and Rosemary Conoly (RC) which will take longer to lose the weight. These are more of a lifestyle change than a quick fix.

Whatever you choose, there is loads of support and encouragement on here x

Hi Chris

Welcome to Minis! You've come to the right place, there is oodles of advice and support to be had and every diet you can think of. If you are not sure what is right for you have a browse around and feel free to ask a few questions on the forums.

You've taken a positive step in trying to do something about your weight so don't be down on yourself.

Let us know how you are doing.

thanks cat and taz and georgie :)
this does seem like a great place.... i tried slim fast a couple of years ago and managed 3st in 2months but that was working nights on a hot moulding press too... i'd like to try the slimfast one again but i sometimes have a habit of picking when i'm bored which is the main killer for me... a friend of mine is on the cambridge diet, i don't think it's the sort of diet for me being honest.. i think i'd fail on it.. and fast.

I did Cambridge and thought exactly the same as you but as you don't feel hungry it isn't as tough as you might think. Another option might be Atkins, you can eat a good amount but the losses are quick?

what about Weight watchers?? theres a wonderful lady on here goes by the name of starlight.. who could happily take you under her wing.. or theres slimming world..

what kind of diet do you feel would suit you? have you thought about slim fast again? theres also a guy on here who does shakes and food.. hes called puggso. and hes doing fantasticly.. i can pull out his diary if you would like to take a look?

Like taz said.. Whatever you choose will be fab.. and theres ALWAYS support here..

I'm a picker too Chris. I think that's why I've found SW so easy. There is so much 'free food' that you can eat all day if you want to and still lose weight.

Hi Chris

I only joined yesterday and already finding this site so friendly and informational.

Just wanted to wish you luck with whichever diet you choose to go with and just to let you know I totally understand where you are coming from with putting up the happy facade!

I also think that joining this site will help you from feeling low at home, just nip on the pc and speak to people on this site as I'm sure everybody can relate to how your feeling one way or another.

Good luck Chris xx

Hi Chris
You can always start on other plans and maybe drop , start to drop carbs before you go on CD or LL its not such a shock then . Do you find you get bored with diets then eat again ? its hard i know , and theres no easy answers but to keep going , otherwise your life is just one big diet that never ends . What diet are you thinking of and does it depend on your pocket too ? cos LL is great

wow thanks for the support everyone :D i deffo think this is what i need... i'm starting my exercisin too ... i'm off for a walk with my dog.. haven't done it for ages and think i should start doing it daily... thanks again for the support :D

It would be wise to get advice from your doctor before starting to exercise. It can be dangerous to just start being active after being sedentary for a long time. Walking should be fine but take it steady. Good luck with it x x

i do like to go on walks alot.... but i stopped a few months ago... i wanted to start up again but never had the motivation... i feel as though i have it again now... i walked for just over an hour just now and it felt great :D i don't think my dog liked it though poor little bugger... he's only a yorkie crossed with a chiuaua LOL

Hi ChrisH, just wanted to wish you loads of luck with whatever diet you decide to go for. I've tried Cambridge Diet and SlimmingWorld, and am currently on Slimfast, which is working well for me, as it suits my habits.
I've found this site so helpful and supportive and you'll find there will be loads of people to help and chat to along the way.
Good luck!

i was thinking about goin back on the slim fast diet as i did like the diet and did like the results... if i buy the shakes and don't by the stodge it'll probably work out cheaper too :p

The shakes are a lot better than they used to be. I done it for a few months while taking a break from SW. I'd done it before but it is definately better now and they have cereal bars as meal replacements too and they are nice

i wasnt always a fan of the cereal bars... i just loved the milkshakes... especially the strawberryones :p

i can't remember the stipulations of the diet... like if i got peckish between shakes, can i eat fruit? i like my fruit and eat quite alot of it.

You can but you have to count the calories. You can have 2 relacements, a 600 calorie meal and 3 100 calorie snacks.

Thats a shame tesco had an offer BOGOF its just ened , shame . I did slimfast , but my trouble is stopping and not getting to reach goal , but it does work and its cheaper !

:) Well I know the other slimfast bods have been really helpful with any questions and advice I've needed. Don't forget that as well as the shakes you can have snacks / fruit etc which I find helps me keep the willpower to stay off the junkfood!
