Restart with new CDC

hollycat

To infinity and beyond!
I have decided to have one last go at CD, I know it is a fabulous diet and I feel my head is in the right place.

There is a new CDC started just round the corner from me, has appointments on a Saturday, so good for me too. My old CDC was fine, not overly supportive, but adequate, but further away from me and only did appts on a Monday, so not as convenient.

The new CDC seems great, very friendly and helpful, motivational, etc. The only fly in the ointment is that I wanted to do SS+, as I have a BMI of 47 and didn't want to have to go to get forms signed by Docs - nothing wrong with my health, just another job I don't really have time for.

I printed off the sticky posted by Linda CDC about SS+ and showed it to my CDC, but she said her forms said anybody with BMI over 40 had to get forms signed by Docs. She has advised me to do 1200 plan and said as soon as I get form signed, she would come round to my house with extra packs if I wanted to start SS straight away.

I am motivated at the moment and feel CDC is the right one for me, so will go and get formed signed, but will SS as she sold me 12 packs (for 1200) and I have enough left from last time to see me through the week.

hi holly, best of luck with your restart. Thats great news about your new cdc and handy that she does appoitments sats.

You should not start any programme until GP has signed off your form. If for any reason they do not sign then you can start the 1200 programme down to BMI 40 then move to SS.

The sticky is for those who can do SS+ if you have medical condition, on medication or BMI over 40 the old rules still apply and GP signature is required.

Best of luck with the diet ;) great news about the new CDC i found out on thursday when I was with mine that she does apts on Sundays and thats her favoured day so thats great news for me that I dont have to be rushing trying to beat the traffic in the evenings trying to get to her :)

Hi Linda,

Thanks for your reply. Sorry I left a + off my original post. I meant to say I was going to SS+ until I have been to the Doctors, I thought this was OK.

I have since studied the pink and blue booklet the CDC gave me, it says on the bottom of page 4 "The Sole Source Plus programme delivers about 615 calories, so your Counsellor will not notify your doctor of your choice."

I would appreciate your comments on whether I am able to SS+. I have rung my CDC, to tell her about the above comment in the booklet, but she is out and I am waiting for her to phone back.

Even if I have to go to Doctors for signature, I was planning to do SS+, as I wanted the packs (I have 4 a day as tall) plus the milk.

Hi Holly, where in Brum are you? Are you going to the Brum meet?

Hi

To clarify if you have a medical condition that isn't contraindicated, on medication or have a BMI 40 or above you MUST go to the GP with your MRF before starting ANY of the programmes. This has not changed.

If, for any reason, the GP will not sign the form the only programme you can follow is the 1200 cal one. If it is a BMI issue alone, you can then follow this plan down to BMI 40 then move on to SS or SS+ with the CDC just writing to inform the GP you have done this. If its a medical condition or medication issue you would not be allowed to go below 1200 cals even if your BMI was lower than 40.

If you do not need to see GP for any of the above reasons if you choose to do SS only the counsellor has to write to your GP this is different from above as it is a courtesy letter not one asking to confirm your medical details.

If you do not want the CDC to contact you GP the lowest you can do is SS+ which is 615 calories. If your BMI is over 40 you can do SS+ if GP okays it otherwise only 1200 cals.

You should not be supplied with any diet at all until after your GP visit.

Good Luck with your restart Holly.

It makes a difference if you feel comfortable with your CDC.
First attempt I didn't care for and no support, but 2nd time lucky - well I hope, been great so far.

Hi Linda,

Thanks for the clarification, I will ring Doctor first thing on Monday and get an appointment, until then I will do CD1200 plan.

My CDC only supplied me with the 12 packs to enable me to do the 1200 plan, she did say she would drop more off at my house if I get the go ahead from Doctors to enable me to SS+, so she was following official guidelines.

Thanks for clearing this up, much appreciated. :)

Hi Holly, where in Brum are you? Are you going to the Brum meet?

Not sure about the Brum meet, I am booked to go to a leaving do on the Saturday night. What about you, are you venturing up town?

Good Luck with your restart Holly.

I agree, it does make a difference if you gel with your CDC or not. I know it is only me who can do this diet, but it is nice if you have got a good support system.

Hi Tracy,

You are doing really well. If you have read above posts you will see I am going to follow 1200 plan until I have got go ahead from the Doctor. Did you have any problems with the Doctor signing your form? Did he charge?

Hope I do as well as you. :)

Good luck for tomorrow's weigh in.

Good luck with your restart! xx

So...how has the last week been going for you then? This thread has been too quiet!

Doctor wanted £30.00 to sign form. I decided that added to the cost of CD ( I have 4 packs a day) was too much. I have got a few packs in hand and I am going to do 1200 plan til they are gone and then calorie count til I am under BMI 40.

Not what I wanted, but I am not willing to pay the Doctor on principal. I am willing to do something constructive about my weight, all I needed was a signature. I know to a certain extent I am cutting off my nose to spite my face, but feel there is a principal at stake

Weightloss on the 1200 plan is excellent and will reduce your BMI so you will be able to SS.

You only need 2 packs a day on this programme ensuring good nutrition in combination with low GI foods.

Have a chat to your CDC about this plan. I have several clients on this who like it so much they are staying with it.
