Hi all, started RTM on wednesday and today i plan to have a salmon fillet and salad as my protein meal. However am totally confused as the nutritional info for my salmon says 375 kcals 28.8g protein 28,6g FAT! Can anyone help me to let me know this is ok as it seems a lot of extra cals to take on board never mind the FATcontent!
Janey. xx

Oily fish is very good for you, mackerel and salmon are both high in omega 3, but because they are oily they are higher in cals, but that is totally fine. The fat is good fat, the sat fat will be a lot lower. Your protein portion should be around 140 grams. Which is approx one average size fillet from a supermarket.
The fat content is mostly unsaturated (poly or mono).
I eat salmon once a week and mackerel 2-3 times.

Hi Ali, thanks for your reply, helped put my mind at ease. Idid think i had read a few posts saying that salmon was a favourite of thiers. Hope all is going well for you, as i said before i find yours and Deb's posts and latterly Petey and all the others joining RTM a great inspiration to follow. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for that lovely comment Janey - its nice to have you on board!

Salmon is indeed high is calories, on weightwatchers I think 1 salmon fillet was 6 points lol I recommend you limit your salmon intake and consider perhaps cod, or haddock :) and perhaps add beans such as chickpeas to your salad? that has some protein in it :)

Mmm interesting reply Sasha, but since Janey posted about 18 months ago I think she's probably worked it out, finished RTM and living a normal life by now. ;)
