Changing over to SW (I think)

Well, As most of you know I have been struggling for the last few weeks. Then discovered today that BP was dangerously low, and metabolism had gone to rock bottom. THIS IS NOT DUE TO THE DIET
I have also discovered that a heart murmur I have always ignored has been slowly deteriorating. My BMI is now 27 so my consultant wants me to switch. So to be a sensible cookie I am moving over to SW or WW or might just follow the diet sheet he gave me. I am sitting down to a bowl of ALL BRAN!!!!OMG i'll be ill later, hate the stuff, but need it for the old ticker. I hope no-one minds if I keep in touch, most of you will be finished your journeys before I get anywhere near the end of mine, so I'll still be here struggling along.

Wish me luck.

Best of luck Jackie. You gotta do what's right for you and keep in touch. As DQ says, this board is about weightloss support, not just VLCDing :)

Wishing you all the best of luck. Look after yourself and keep well.

Best wishes with the new plan. I think that will be a great way to lose those last pounds.

Hi Jackie,

You have done so well already and you have that to be so proud of your achievement to date !

I think one of the things about a slimming club is that they do weigh you every week and I think this is important to keep the focus and you do learn loads also if you stay for the classes.

As all the guys have said already we support all diets as this is all about weight loss and maintaining...also the befores, afters and in betweens.

There is a new thread just started up by coley and it is called the "Last Stone Mission" as so many find that last stone very difficult to shift. Here is the link:

Best of luck with getting that last bit off!!! You can do this:D

Good girl on being sensible. It's great to be thin but it's even better to be still around in a couple of years time ;)

Good luck with SW and of course you can keep posting and keep in touch on here. You have some valuable knowledge of VLCDs. I look forward to keeping in touch and reading about how well you're doing!! :)

You've done really well and a BMI of 27 is certainly a great result.

I lost my weight through healthy eating and pretty much invented my own plan, taking the best from all I'd learned in the past while failing at SW, WW, Atkins, grapefruit diet, slimfast and trillions of others!

I basically sit down each week and work out my menus for the following week, including plenty of veggies or salad with every lunch and dinner. I find this so easy when I go shopping to not be tempted to buy "extras", even now at maintenance.

For me, leaving anything to chance can lead to danger (you know the "what do I fancy tonight?" voice when you get home tired from work). I know exactly what I'm having every night of the week, and only those items are in my fridge/cupboard, with fruit for snacks and water for extra drinks, and hence I can only eat these foods!

Typically this is an idea of how I now eat:

B: Homemade muesli (oats + chopped up nuts, dates, apricots), a few Bran Flakes or All Bran, semi skimmed milk

L: grilled chicken breast with three or four steamed veggies OR big tupperware of salad; piece of fruit

Snack: second piece of fruit

D: [another lean piece of meat or fish] with three or four steamed veggies OR big tupperware of salad (whichever I didn't have at lunchtime).

Of course, as I work full time as you probably do, I don't cook from scratch every day... I'd never have the motivation to do that. What I do is grill two days' meat for lunches on a Sunday, wrap them in foil, and keep in tupperware until required. Then I steam up a HUGE vat of veggies, bag up Monday's lunch, and save the rest in tupperwares until required. Probably not ideal, from a vitamin perspective, but the best I can face!

Might that sort of thing work for you, do you think?

Jackie - you've done really well and it isn't though lack of willpower you have to swap over. You only have another 15 lbs to lose so I'm sure it'll be off sooner than you think. I wish you the best of luck with the rest of your journey. I too think I'm going to have to make a trip to the doctors as I don't feel very well at all recently (think shaking and extreme anxiety kind of feelings) and think he might tell me to come off the diet so may have to join you trying to get rid of that last stone via a different route. Far better to feel well in yourself and lose the weight slowly than be losing it quicker but risking your health.

Jackie - best of luck with the change in diet - youhave done so well and are so close now that you can definitely do it!! Please do keep posting and let us all know how you get on........and what diet you decide to follow.

Thanks everyone for your support. I was feeling a little low today when I got up. I did jump on the scales, and low and behold 4lbs up. But only to be expected after all I did have some food yesterday. Noticed that within 30 minutes it was back to the same as before!!!!! I think my scales react to the weather.
Well, I am sitting here with my bowl of all bran (yeuch). My daughter prepared it, its five times bigger than I need.
I tried on some clothes I had been waiting to get into, I remember after I had my first child, I wanted a dress from Principles for the new years party, started dieting in the November and bought the dress two weeks before christmas. When I tried the dress on in November it was too small by about 2 inches, that is where it is today. So with perserverance, excercise (limited due to ticker) and sensible eating I should get there by christmas.
The most important thing that I will take from my VLCD journey, is the friendship and support on this site, that and the need to drink gallons!!!
