Hey all,

I need some help and advice...

I cant seem to get my head into diet mode, I want to lose weight and I need to lose weight but my head wont get in line with the rest of me. Do any of you have any ideas or suggestions of what might help me.

Also I'm looking for some ideas of meals for Lulu and I, that are cheap, easy to prepare and healthy and. I am completely stumped as I am only used to cooking things bad for us and still seem to be doing that. Is only so much salad I can take lol. I don't have the patience to cook meals that take an absolute age and the budget is extremely tight now with Lulu having to go part time due to health issues.

I look forward to hearing ideas soon...

Hi duchy,

I just come across your post and I am surprised that there isn't more feedback yet. It is hard to get into diet mode for anybody but specially for the likes of us who have a lot to loose. Unfortunately I don't have any ideas on how to do it because I was lucky and my brain just clicked one day (unfortunately it did wait until I was 38 years old and 9 stone overweight...)

All I can say is hang in there, take one day at a time and we will be here to support you.

I can't cook so I'm not even any use in giving recipes but I thought I send you some real good luck and loads of hugs.

take care

Hi duchy!

I used to be like you. I knew I had to lose weight but I couldn't get my head around dieting. I tried several time half-heartedly, and my advice to you is start ONLY when YOU are ready, and not because other people tell you to.

As far as I am concerned, what helped me get into diet mode is having a goal, an ambition, and not just a dream. I am going on hols this summer, in a paradise-like island, and I want to be able to wear a swimsuit, short dresses, etc. There is NO WAY I am going to be obese this summer. Now that I have this in mind, I find the dieting "easy" as I have the motivation.

What is your goal? What do you want to achieve? Then once you have it clearly defined, you will see that decisions are much easier to make.

Good luck to you.

This is actually really good advise Ellie. I think if you have something to look forward to, things begin to make sense and are half as hard.

This made me think what my ambition is and this is it:

I am going to start a new job hopefully by the end of the year promoting young rock bands with a friend of mine. I don't want to look and feel like the frumpy, fat thing (can't even put it in words..) I have felt like for so many years. I am and aging Rock Chick and I finally want to be able to wear the proper clothes (yes, combats and vests @ 38..no probs..) I want to look and feel great for a once in a lifetime chance to work in a job second only to my dream job.

Also, I absolutely adore Finland and have been over there numerous times. I always felt happy there apart from the way I looked so, my best friend has booked a trip for me and her to go to Helsinki in October and I want to look and feel the best I can...

Sorry for waffeling but you got me thinking Ellie..

Have you looked at the websites for weight watchers and slimming world? Would that type of diet suit you? Or would you rather use a VLCD from either CD, LL or LT?

How much have you both to lose? I am sure if you both chose the same diet you could support each other perfectly.

Hi honey........

For a long time I wasn't in the right frame of mind to even contemplate losing any weight....I kidded myself and those around me I was happy being fat.....I even used to joke and say diet was a four letter word for a reason....and then a few things conspired against me and it hit me one day....found this diet and the rest is 5 week history so far........

I think what might help you is to write down all your reasons for WANTING to lose the weight........what triggered you into starting, what do YOU want to achieve....writing it all down will help a little to get you focused on why you are doing this and what you are hoping to achieve......

As for recipes etc....I have to confess to being quite boring when it comes to cooking....I don't really experiment very much at all.......have you tried googling healthy recipes and see what turns up....google is my bestest friend and I can get lost doing searches for everything! lol! Have a scout around the wonderful world of the internet and see what crops up......

Good Luck honey!

(((((hugs)))))

Ms

Hi all,

First of all, my apologies for not replying sooner.

Thank you all for your advice, I found it really helpful.

I am over 23st now and the sheer size of what I have to lose terrifies me. Especially when I think that I weigh enough for at least 2 people.

Im just 34 and I am now diabetic and getting worse, I cant walk more than a few feet without great pain in my joints and back. I have no energy or motivation.

  • My goals are Lulu and I want to have a Civil Partnership next year and I want to wear a sexy dress.
  • I want to not have the fat comments yelled at me when I go out.
  • I want to have more energy and be able to have the confidence to go out to restaurants
  • And finally I want to wear sexy clothes not just the jeans, teeshirts and joggin bottoms that I live in now.
I have tried WW, Rosemary connely, slimming world and superdrug.

I think my problem is I have so much stress in my life at the moment i cant think or concentrate on this.

It drives me nuts though, I have to lose weight, I need to lose weight, I want to lose weight, I have the goals. I just cant fight me lol.

Maybe I could plan the weeks menu and try that.

Have you thought about trying the Tescodiet?

They find out what you like to eat & what type of plan - low gi, low fat, veggie etc and they plan a weekly menu for you and even provide a weekly shopping list too.

You can go on and change the meals if you don't like the sound of them and also you have a weekly wi online and they send encouraging emails back to you.(they can also send you an exercise plan if required - set just for you)

Good luck with whatever you choose to do
