Cow's milk alternatives

Hi everyone

I've decided to stop drinking cow's milk as I think it makes my eczema worse.

Thing is, I love having cereal in the morning for my hexB. And I'm not keen on having it with yoghurt.

Does anybody have any thoughts on which of the other milks is the best from the list?

I'm keen to have one that tastes most like cow's. I also don't mind how much the allowance is either because I have it all in the morning.

Not a massive fan of cheese either you see!

So grateful for any opinions or suggestions xx

There are loads of alternatives to cows milk you can have as a Healthy Extra. Goats Milk, Almond Milk, Soy Free, Lactose Free, Coconut milk.

If you post what sort of milk alternative you would be interested in and I can look at how much you can have. :D

Hi,

I love the unsweetened Almond milk. And you can have 870ml's (or maybe a tad more cant remeber exact amount) as 1 healthy extra. Tastes lovely in coffee, tea and on cereal. Id say the Blue diamond make is the best, but maybe thats just personal taste.
xx

I've got the books and attend group so I know my options - was just wondering which one was tastiest!

Thanks for the help!

Has anyone tried oatmilk?

I love the hazelnut Alpro on cereal and in coffee with a dash of vanilla extract. Coconut is nice too, you get 600mls of the chilled one as an A choice.

My go-to is Koko coconut milk because you can use it on sweet or savoury things. I use it in scrambled eggs or Pasta N Sauce because it isn't sweet.
Alpro's coconut milk is a bit sweet and actually tastes of coconut.
And Alpro Almond and Hazelnut are amazing with cereal or in hot chocolate :D

Could anyone tell me how much Oatly (the plain one, not chocolate) is a Healthy Extra?

I think the koko coconut milk is advertised in the new SW mag claiming that you can't tell the difference between it, and cows milk (semi skimmed). No idea if it's true or not but I hope so! - Thinking of trying it as you can have more of it compared to semi skimmed milk, and my daughter (nearly 2yrs) has a milk protein intolerance. Would be good if I could cook and make things with this milk for the both of us x

Yes, I have tried "Oatly" (from Sweden), it has been the tastiest milk alternative for me so far. Hazelnut, almond, rice etc are yummy but they taste of hazelnut, almond etc, you get the idea. Nice, but not quite like milk.

Having said that, it's a question of taste, so I would experiment a bit and see what's the best for you.
