Two kids later and 6 stones gained I am back to lose once and for all. I've been in ketosis for 3 weeks now but hid my scales as I wasn't losing and it was making me disheartened.

Im wondering if I should be counting calories as well because the weight just doesn't seem to be shifting like it did the first time around?

Hi Jools

Nah, it's too soon to worry about calorie counting. I found reading this really helpful: Why is low-carb harder the second time around? - The Blog of Michael R. Eades, M.D.

I bet you are changing shape, even if the scales aren't budging.

Oh, and if the above helps, here's some more: Help in following a low-carb diet or a Paleo diet.

Happy reading - and happy low carbing. :) I've almost completed one week back on plan and feel so much better already, even though only a few pounds have shifted so far.

Hi Jools
Good to see you. Ideally you dont want to get into counting calories but that doesnt mean that calories dont count. Atkins works because your appetite gets depressed so you can burn fat - but its still possible to overeat for a variety of reasons. If you track then you might be able to see if anything happening eg for me, wine makes me hungry, nuts are very easy to overeat etc

Good luck!

Good for you getting back to it. This is my 2nd time round too - I lost well on it around 10yrs ago, but met my now-hubby, got married, had two kids and am ready to lose again. I've lost almost 19lbs since End of August, the weight loss is slowing down now but it is steadily coming off.

GL on your journey!
