Pro-points vs vintage points

Hi all

I have always done vp on WW and have dabbled in SW on a few occasions. Now it is all pro points I kind of feel left out e.g I used to love going to get the new mag every month and being able to pick up WW goodies without having to work out points. So the question is how do people get on with pro points?? Definitely can't get to a meeting so would have to do online membership but I am worried about changing everything again.

I also have always had a bit of a naughty day on a Saturday, can you still get away with this on the pro points diet. After looking I would be on 26pp, can anyone give me ideas how this works out over the day as some things seem really high compared to the old plan.

Sorry for the long post but i really need to get my dieting mojo back and think this could be the way forward for me.

Thanks
Clare

Clare, I'm really interested to see your replies on this.

My story is similar to yours....have followed WW before but only the old points. I think I dabbled in pro points when it first came out but a lot of 'old' WW people were dissing the new plan saying it wasn't as effective and I lost faith!
Over the years, I have been a SW girl through and through but my recents attempts at it have proven to be a non starter! I just cannot lose weight on it anymore....I don't know why, but I can't, fact. In between bouts of SW, I have followed vintage points as a way of portion control and always really like it, I like being more in control!
Recently, after another 'go' at SW and losing slower than a slow thing, I'm feeling really despondent, I have been thinking of WW again. But I don't know what points system to follow......old or pro points.
It's encouraging to see a few SW peeps over on this forum who are enjoying WW.

Clare, in answer to your question regarding 26 propoints, the reason it is a higher amount is because a lot of the food points went up too! So whereas potato was 1 vintage point per 100g, it's now 1 propoint for 50g I believe.

Thanks for your reply, I have found a good online offer so think I might give it a go, I have nothing to lose (except weight!!!) although still hoping to get some input from people who know the system, I work strange hours and sometimes find planning hard so I often end up starving at work and then caving in to temptation.

I too will be watching this post. Both your stories are very similar to mine and I have also read lots of comments about the new pro points system not working but from what I have read it seems WW have tweaked it a little and lowered the points (which I would be on) I'm just gathering info and being nosey until my books arrive. What was the online deal Moosle? I would have to do this too as I live in Spain with no one to help! :( Good luck to you both.

I only joined this year so I’ve only ever used propoints, but they are straight forward enough for me. They do take a bit of getting used to but I’ve managed to work out a good system. The key for me is a breakfast of no more than 7 PP (excepting weekend brunch) and no more than 8 at lunch and the rest for the evening/snack. Planning ahead really is key for me, if I know I’m going to have a bigger night I allocate a portion of my weeklies (49 extra you can spread them out over the week or eat them all at once if you want to splurge) and eat a low point soup/salad/stir fry for lunch. I know some people did have an issue when they switched over but I’ve always had a good rate of weight loss following them and they feel quite flexible. I think zero point fruit and veg is an improvement over the old system.

Hi everyone!!

I have used both plans over the years and like you all I stuck with the old system as it was what I knew before eventually giving in to the new points. I have to say I was so much more shocked as a lot of the foods I ate were a lot more points on the new plan. However a few months into the plan I started to see the benefits.
I defo have more energy and find it easier to stick to the plan with the additional weekly points on top of the dailies. On the old plan you could save your points for a big occasion which meant I ended up very hungry so I could have a drink at the weekend. Eating a lot more fruit is the best benefit though. I now don't have to decide between the using points on a banana or crisps...which was completely mental when you think about it. So great being able to have a banana on my way to the gym or if I feel peckish without worrying about the points.

Hope this helps girls. Defo worth changing in my opinion and if worse comes to worse you can always go back.

Oh and I have only been to a handful of meetings on the old points ....for the new points system I bought a calc off ebay so have done it all myself. :)

I prefer the new pro points. I use to struggle on 18 points a day and never ate any fruit as thought it was a waste of points. On the pro points fruit is 0 pp now which is better and you get an extra 49 weekly bonus pro points to use in addition to your 26 daily pro points. I love it and wouldn't go back to old points.
