Jo vs diabetes

Hello to anyone reading! I welcome all and would love comments and advice.
A little bit about me..
Well as the title suggests my name is Jo. I am 40 years young, married and have 2 kids aged 10 and 4 (girl and boy) a german shepherd puppy and 2 cats :)
Well this February I turned the big 40 and my life sort of took a downhill health wise from there :(

I am currently a ward clerk in a womens hospital which involves working nights, but I have been off sick since April
Was constantly tired went to docs and to cut a long story short I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2. Was a big kick in the butt for me and I was put on meds and diagnosed with hypertension too. After a mini stroke scare (it wasn't) I am on a few meds and making huge lifestyle changes.
Started healthy eating and with My Fitness App I have lost 2st 2 lbs so far, this is the most I have ever lost. Gone from a size 24 to 18-20 :D

So what brings me here?? Well I currently weigh 16st 10lbs and for the last 3 weeks I have come to a stop. Mostly because I haven't been 100% if I'm honest!
Have done slimming world before so I know it works, but I got greedy with it! Doing 1200 cals a day has taught me portion control and I honestly cannot eat loads or I am ill.
I am doing it at home and my WI is weds mornings. I love SW as it's family friendly. I have been doing it for 6 days now and I think I'm ding ok, I have books from last time and I found this fab website when I googled slimming world. I have read some of the fantastic diaries and hope I do you all some justice!

So... If you are still with me after all of that well done!!! Lol
I am doing all of this from my iphone so I hope after typing it all that it works!!!

So just to give you all an idea here is my food diary for today :)

EE
Breakfast
Chopped apple, nectarine, strawberries and banana topped with FF yogurt

Lunch
Ham & tomato on WM bread (HEb)
Mug shot
Chicken drumstick

Dinner
Pork chop
Pasta with home made tomato sauce (tinned toms, onion,garlic and herbs)

3 plums

Currently drinking green tea. Going to spend syns on walkers pops (5.5) and curly wurly (6)

Hi, it was nice reading your post.

The medical conditions you have can be reversed as your seeing with some hard work.
I did sw from home and lost a stone then starting messing about so I've joined a class now was my first wi today and scales at class are way out from my home and I'm heavier than I thought.

So good luck on your journey, these forums are fantastic I do much better when I use the site for support x

Yea my ultimate goal is to reverse it and come off al my meds. Feel like an old lady on a morning chugging them all down lol

You can do that. It won't take to much.

Slightly different but I was told I had gestational diabetes I cut out all crap. But ate well, Olive oil good fresh food and I never had a raised bm reading and they gave up checking me.

It can be reversed. Do your best its much better to spend 9 months doing sw getting it all under check than a life with diabetes which uncontrolled is very serious x
 
Day 2 of diary, day 7 of SW

Another EE day today.

Breakfast
35g Shreddies (HEb)
Chopped apple, baba and strawberries topped with toffee muller light

Snack
Apricot

Lunch
Bubble and squeak cakes (potato, cabbage, sprouts and onions mashed together and fried in fry light)
Gammon (only had a teeny bit, wasn't keen so gave mine to the dog ;). )

Apple

Dinner
Chicken breast stuffed with light Philly with garlic and herbs (HEa) and spinach wrapped in bacon
New pots
Green beans

Was really filling, didn't eat all my pots. Looking at it today I feel I've ate too much potato :( WI tomorrow morning so I hope I don't regret the overload lol
I was showing a loss this morning so fingers crossed. Now I confess that I am a serial weigher!! But I have an app that tracks my weight every day and hopefully gives me an idea of projected weight loss. Also gives me an idea of my ups and downs lol, so for me it keeps me on track ;)

Will report back with WI tomorrow. Hope it's working because I'm enjoying it!!

Thanks Hun, I am amazed, last time I did SW I lost 3lb in my 1st week. Mind you I was greedy lol

Day 8 of SW

Well I had a pretty tiring night, my daughter was ill with a tummy bug so I was awake until 3am then awake again at 6.

Fantastic WI this morning, but as I said it's *week too
Took my 4 yr old son to Jitterbugs (soft indoor play area) so Lydia could have a quiet day napping. Luckily my hubby on annual leave.

Just took dog on a 60 minute stroll in the rain. Feeling tired, but watching Corrie and eagerly awaiting GBBO!! I am an avid baker but it's no good for the waistline lol

Haven't made fantastic choices food wise today. Trip out was kind I last minute and they had no jacket potatoes :/

Breakfast
Chopped apple peach strawberries and blueberries topped with muller vanilla

Lunch
Chicken salad sub (8 syns??)

Dinner
Spaghetti Bol SW friendly with loads of onions, mushrooms and toms

Have weekly syns so I have 97/105 left. Don't fancy anything else today still full from tea lol

I think I may have a go at having some nice syns in the evening,. Maybe a curly wurly, they last a while.
