Day 2 Attack Newbie - hello everyone!

Hi everyone! I'm so glad I've found this website as I really need some support and motivation. I've tried the Dukan before but never made it past the Attack phase probably due to bad planning, stress and lack of discipline but THIS TIME I really want to achieve my goal. It's only day two but I've been super strict as the last effort included a lot of cheating on breakfast biscuits!! Any advice or a friendly hello much appreciated!

Hi!

Best way is to prepare, and always have dukan allowed snacks to hand. As soon as I let myself get hungry or drink beer (lol) I end up breaking the diet! But these things happen :)

Good luck xx

Hey Petalviolet.

I'm currently just finishing day 3 of attack phase. I'm a bit nervous tomorrow as I actually have to plan and think about what to have for lunch! Normally it isn't a problem as I'm a stay at home mum, but I'll be going out tomorrow all day :(

We should support each other together :)

Hi Gamy, hi Littlestwookie lovely to hear from you! Day three attack and effects kicking in! Glad I don't have to be anywhere Gamy as it's tricky to prepare something to take out and then I guess if your eating with anyone else you have to explain? Hope today goes ok for you? I'm a stay at home mum too but sometimes that's even more tempting just to wander into the kitchen and spy all that lunchbox food.... I'm trying to keep busy with some housework (usually such a slob) and supervising relations between my new kitten and my older one which has been interesting! Looking forward to getting over the hump of day five - wishing you all the best ladies xx

It wasn't to bad. I made some rosemary burger and mixed the oatbran into that. I really dislike oatbran. Might try hiding it yogurt tomorrow. I know what you mean, but considering its mainly me and a baby at home she keeps me busy! Thankfully she's still on milk for now, starting solids next month. You have cats? I love cats. Don't have any myself as I currently living on a new estate, but one day once they finished building everything I'll get one.

Mr Petalviolet bought (on my request) some mince for tea and I suggested we get some for the cats too as the breeder apparently said they love the stuff raw, fair enough. Two packs. One 5% and one taste the difference. Guess who got the posh stuff?!! He wasn't impressed ;-)

I hate oatbran too but am stirring it into yoghurt of a morning and it's not too bad but I'll eat anything when hungry enough. I like your idea of adding Rosemary to a burger - never thought of that!

You can make porridge with the oatbran - or best of all muffins - I love oatbran - can't imagine life without it now!!!! You best find a way you like to have it as it's one of the most important parts of the diet :)

Agree! Muffins are the BEST thing about Dukan! Good luck Petal, and welcome :)

Hello Scooter, hello Dukanista! Can I ask - is it ok to have muffins in the attack phase? I was going to wait as I thought they were too treaty and the idea of having a muffin for breakfast right now makes me want to do Kung Fu (with joy) so please say yes!!? Yes I have read book but poor ability to retain facts, not very bright..bit lazy...etc.

I've had a muffin on attack phase. You might have to adjust your oat bran or cut the portions in half to get the right amount. Are we allowed over our oatbran allowance?

You can make muffins using your 1 (1.5?) tbs oatbran allowance, so it should be fine for attack. Just make them in batches: my recipe is for 6:
6-9tbs oatbran
3-6tbs wheatbran (tolerated, maybe best to leave out in attack?)
1 tbs baking powder
1 tub (250g) of quark
1 mueller light toffee (or 4-5 tbs plain yoghurt)
3 eggs
Splenda / sweetener to taste
Whatever flavorings you like (vanilla, lemon zest, etc.)

Pop into silicon muffin moulds and cook on 175 Celsius for about 15 mins.

Thank you Dukanista that's really helpful. Think I will make a batch at the weekend without the wheatbran and it can be a Sunday treat. It's day 5 attack for me and the first time I have felt god awful. Just so tired and a bit dizzy. Keeping up with liquids and eating enough I think but bad sleep doesn't help. This must be the Ketosis kicking in, hope so, just need to power through. Goes to show the level of unhealthy eating I was doing before I suppose? Nothing with such obvious results is easy is it?! Hope everyone else in these early stages is doing ok x

I'm doing fine. Almost out of the attack phase. Can't wait to eat some veggies! When do you finish the attack phase?

I'm aiming for ten days so half way through. Glad you're feeling ok especially with a little one to look after. Think I'm a bit of a wimp!!

10 days on attack seems an awful long time - are you sure that's what is recommended for you? Staying on attack longer than you should does not make you lose weight quicker - I think I would recheck your attack phase if I was you xx

10 days attack is far too long (particularly for someone of your weight and height!!). The way to find out what would be recommended for you is to go onto the official Dukan website and fill out their free questionnaire. They will then email you the recommended length of time. I'd guess 3 to 5 days maximum. We've seen time and again here that people don't really lose much more after a few days attack, unless heavily obese, and the introduction of veggies is much appreciated by our bodies!!

Don't like oatbran? You must get baking!! Stirring it into something sounds horrid! We make galettes, or as Dukanista says above muffins. There are so many recipes for oatbran. Check out our recipe thread!

Good luck
x

I'll agree with the others. You weigh no where near as much as me and I was given a week.

Morning ladies- thanks for your advice everyone I think you guys are right. I haven't lost anything for about three days and I do feel pretty awful. I think I just wanted to give myself a good long break from all the overindulging/comfort eating but I have to look at this as a lifestyle change and not a quick fix and then just go back to my old ways. It's such an eye opener reading some of the advice and the success stories on this forum and to see what it actually takes to make Dukan a healthy way of eating forever. Will be having first PV day today and first attempt at a muffin. Wonder what it will taste like!!

Good luck :) I haven't really had any side effects with Dukan, minus a minor headache in the evening, but I'm really stressed as well at the moment so it could be in relation to that.

That's good news Petal - I think you've made the right decision - trust Dr D he knows what he's on about - I had seven stone to lose and I only did five days attack! - I often have my muffins with quark mixed with sweetener - it's like fresh cream!! I think it's a good idea to have some sugar free jelly made up too incase you get any sweet cravings - these will get less and soon dukan will become a way of life. I can remember thinking I would never be able to do this diet when I first read the book but you fill up on protein and it's amazing how it satisfies your hunger - good luck - I can't see your stats cos I'm on my iPad but take it just half a stone at a time - that's how I looked at it - it took me a year to get to target - this is the best diet ever - I did pv and pp days alternate - that way I knew vegetables were never that far away!!
