Adding veg to sauces etc

This may be the most silly question but if for example I made a bolognaise with mushrooms, onions, peppers etc
would the veg in the sauce still be counted as a 1/3 superfree? Or would I then need a small salad on the side too.

Or for example I like a creamy mushroom sauce with my steak (I also have steamed veg) which I make with really light philly, mushrooms and onions. Again would that be helping towards my 1/3 superfree.

I am not an expert but would think if you made sure there was at least one third of veg in the Bolognese then it would be ok, after all if you made a vegetable soup you wouldn't put an extra third veg on the side?

Thank you for reply! I am not a vegetarian but meat doesn't really bother me so sauces etc tend to be packed out with veg so was just thinking haha...

I count it as my super free. :) My thoughts are as long as it's in the meal it counts. :)

I count it as long as it is 1/3 of the cooked volume of the plate. I occasionally find that the veg shrinks a lot in cooking so there's less than I planned, in which case I have extra salad or something.
