Extra Easy Slow Weight Loss

Hi All,

I have always used this site for information in the past but have never joined myself before.

My reason for joining is I really need advice! I have been following Slimming World for the last 17 weeks. I have stuck to it rigidly and been extremely good. However I have only lost 1st so far.

It is beginning to really getting me down as I often go to way in to find I have gained 1lb or STS. I am losing all moral and it is taking every inch of my willpower to stick with it.

I having been wondering whether this type of diet just doesn't work for certain people and whether it would be worth moving to try Weight Watchers or something else? Does anybody have any advice having tried other diets?

I am 23, not overly active but not lazy either and have a good 4-5 stone to lose.

Something has got to give!

At my wits end!

Hi you say only a stone but a stone is ace in 17 weeks. You obviously have lost some. As always on here we say show us a food diary and we shall try and help. Well done on your loss

Yes please share your food, how much do you drink? Have you been measuring your healthy extras? How many syns do you have?

A stone in 17 weeks is not bad at all. Just imagine that's about just under a pound a week and if you kept up at this rate you could weigh 24lbs less by the end of the year. I know it's disappointing but coming from someone who has been back and forth with different diets, Slimming World is as good as it gets. Why don't you post a food diary and give us an idea of what you have been eating the past few days.

Do you mix up your days at all or just follow one of the plans for the whole time? Some people seem to lose best on red, others on green and so don't get on with EE that well. Perhaps you could try some Success Express days?

I agree with others who have suggested posting a diary as it's so easy to make a mistakes in the early days - I know I did (thinking peas were Superfree when they're not). Are you weighing out Synned things and Healthy Extras?

Have you made huge changes to your diet in joining SW? If you already ate a lot of fruit and veg and were already using fat free/sugar free things then your losses are likely to be smaller than for someone who lived on crisps, curries and fish and chips for example.

Is there a chance you are being too good? Common mistakes are guessing syns and hex, not writing things down that you have eaten, simply not having 1/3 superfree at every meal. Yes its an ideal not a rule but it's really at the heart of the plan and is what makes the difference between consistency and stalling. Also not eating enough. This is something I have been guilty of. Once in the early days and I couldn't figure out why I wasn't losing, and again recently I've cut back too much and my losses have stalled, again. You would think id learn after all this time. Anyway its important to keep your metabolism ticking along and if you dip below your base metabolic rate and are too kcal deficient your body will hang on to everything you give it and won't shed essential fat stores. Out hunter gatherer ancestors have a lot to answer for. If your body suspects a lean period it conserves energy and its main source is your thighs (that bits not true but it's how it feels for me!!)

have your syns, have your hex, maybe mix it up with an alternate day (red or green) a couple of days a week. Don't get despondent. It does work as long as you stick with it. Some people just naturally lose slower than others. As long as the overall trend is downward, and it is, it's working for you too.

Post a a diary like everyone says for more advice from the knowledgeable minis on here! :)

The way i see slimming world is that i don't class it as a 'diet' its made me look at what im eating and given me a healthier way to eat and the weight loss just follows, your still loosing and thats the main things, its not a quick fix as its something for life xx

Thank you all for your responses. I phoned my consultant on Thursday and spoke to her about my original message to get her thoughts and she basically said I was lying and that I was obviously not being truthful in my food diary, eating more bad things than I was writing down. Which is honestly not the case. I had never stuck to a diet like I had stuck to SW. However after coming off the phone in tears, I made a drastic decision and started Weight Watchers on Saturday.

I am aware that this is not true of every consultant and that I have just had a bit of a bad experience so I just wanted to let you all know and apologise for wasting your time.

I really do appreciate your responses and would have posted a food diary for you all if I hadn't had a bit of a strop and decided to go to the dark side ;)

Thank you again for your advice and help x

She doesn't sound at all helpful. If you decide to come back then let us help you and maybe find a better consultant. Good luck with WW. I've done both plans and it does work well and you may find suits you better :)

So sorry to hear you have had a bad experience with your SW consultant. I hope things work out alot better for you at weight watchers. If you decide to come back please post on this thread and let us know so we can be your support system. I'm one of those people that don't lose weight quickly, when I did SW before I was only managing to lose a pound a week. Some diets work better for some people you just have to find one that suits you the most. All the best.

You should report your bad experience to SW and send a copy of your letter or email to the consultant. You are just as much a customer of SW as you would be a customer in a shop, and you wouldn't put up with a shop assistant calling you a liar.

I am really sorry your consultant was so horrible. Good luck with WW!
