Have decided today that this will be my last attempt with SW . Here's a brief history long story short ... joined 20+ years ago got to target pretty quick bearing in mind not much to loose 2stone plus age was on my side . Over the last 20 years I have been on and off the SW wagon and tried a few others with short term success . I 're joined again in Jan and had a slow weight lost most was 2lbs in one week after being 100% don't how people loose 4+ ! Anyway carried on going to group but decided to do Calorie Counting for one week to see the results and lost 2.5 lbs ! Did the same the following week and think I lost 3lbs I started exercising the same time as the CC swap . Things were going pretty well going to group and doing my own thing then got a bit bored with logging everything plus people were loosing well on SW decided to try SW again lasted 3days started overeating mainly pasta got bloated looked 6 months gone ! So did CC for remainder of the week and STS . So have now decided from Thursday ( last weigh in day ) I will try SW again but NOT eat for the sake of it especially pasta /carbs ! I have given myself 1 month June to follow SW 100% and see my results . If I loose 1.5 lbs + per week then I'm sticking with it as I think that should be possible as I exercise 3x per week lots of cardio running and cycling . If I don't loose much sts or gain when I know I have been good then I think it'll be time for me to throw in the towel and quit and go back to CC on my own and save the money :) I still don't know after all these years if SW works for everyone but I really hope it will work for me this time as it's a healthy lifestyle and easy to follow . Ill update next Thusday let you know how much I've lost ! :)

I can relate to so much of that! How about trying red days? I still follow EE but veer towards red and always have at least one meal a day with no carbs

Good luck

That's what I'm doing much more red and if I do ee won't have many carbs x

Best of luck, just be careful doing more exercise as it may distort your lose for the 1st 2-3weeks! There is also different ways to boost your weight loss on SW with success express or extra superspeed food!!

Reading between the lines of your posting, what you seem to be saying is that SW worked for you when you stuck to it, and didn't work when you didn't. The same is true of any diet.

Your right SW did work just too many carbs doesn't seem to do me any favours so will adapt it to work better for me and see what happens over the next month .

To be brutally honest Kat, your dieting sounds erratic and I think you need to establish the root cause of that before you're ever going to be truly happy with any diet plan. Firstly, let me tell you I'm no saint. I've tried a fair few over the years and been a classic yo-yo dieter. However, you seem to be fixated on a 'quick loss' and if it isn't shifting as quickly as you want you become bored and you're looking for the next diet to try, hence the switching between SW and CC. I'm not sure your body will know if it's coming or going with your chopping and changing around. You need to give a plan a fair try and doing SW for a month is a start, but by raising your expectations of losing + 1.5lbs per week you are setting yourself up for a disappointment right from the very start. Yes, some people do lose 3 - 4lbs a weeks and yes, it's bloody annoying how they seem to breeze through it and the weight falls off, but that's life I'm afraid and looking at your stats you don't have much to lose anyway. I'm so sorry if this sounds harsh but believe me I am telling you this with the very best of intentions and with the hope that this will help you in the long run. I would suggest you plan your meals, keep a food diary, exercise if you want to and limit your carbs if you're getting the bloat (have you been checked for gluten intolerance??) but please, enjoy any loss be it big or small and embrace the fact that every little loss you can see means it is working and you have to be patient. I wish you the very best of luck this time around. Please do let us know how you get on.

You're so right I'm inpatient . I totally agree with all that you've said hit the nail on the head ! I've started my food diary to make sure I'm following SW properly and yes maybe I should be happy with any loss I get :) thanks x

I'm impatient too katsmad64 although rather than swapping plans in the past I have just given up but I'm sticking to it this time and reminding myself that even a 1lb loss is still a change in the right direction. I like coming on here for the support and motivation and I've started my food diary on here as well. (Charlie's small kitchen, small waist (hopefully!))

Jeanne has pretty much hit the nail on the head. We've all been guilty of saying diets don't work when really it's just they're not working as quickly as we would like!

What I will say in addition to what's been said already is that I have found personally that there is actually little difference in what I eat and how much I eat when I am successful with any diet. When I lose weight 'easily' I tend to have about 50% fruit and veg on my plate and 50% other stuff, that's on SW, WW, CC or just being healthy. I know in the past I've treated SW as a free for all, eating when I'm not hungry and just for the sake of it. Surprise surprise I don't lose weight then! Maybe have a look at something like success express to help you with your portions etc.

Hi just wanted to do an update . I had a good think about what others had said and they were so right jumping from sw - cc constantly wasn't doing me any favours at all and I have been doing this for longer than I can remember . I know why cause I'm inpatient and just want to get the weight off asap . So I thought right although I'm not loosing 2+ lbs a week I am loosing and going in the right direction and am nearly 21lbs lighter since starting in January so not bad really and if I keep going could be at target by Christmas ! So have been sticking with SW 100% and lost 1/2 lb and am now in the next stone down which I've not seen for the last 2 years . So it's SW all the way now I've eaten lots more healthier foods and I'm feeling much better so thanks for the reality check I feel really focused and much more positive only wished I not been swapping diets could have been at target ages ago :) Good luck with whatever diet you do but stick with it for a while to see the results ! X

Amazing to hear Kat! Well done! My Mum is going through the same as you ATM, joined SW 2 years ago and lost 1.5st in just over a month, has come back two months ago and has been yoyoing around her start weight and shes determined that 'SW doesn't work for her'! I'm going to get her to read Jeanettes response to this thread to give her the motivation!

I think the same as Jeanette.

I get some big losses but they are when I so the third of my meal as superfree. I have lost 1 and a half stone this year, which really isn't the rat I would like to do it, but I didn't gain it all overnight either if truth be told. This really is a life style change and once you can start enjoying it (which I am doing with EE ) then I think the timescales become irrelevant!

Well good luck. Try to speak with those it has worked for. That may help.
