Thinking of starting

Trying very hard!
Good afternoon,

I am still struggling to settle on something I can actually do. I have great success with low carb but I am loosing so much hair it has me worried.

I tried calorie counting but I can't really be trusted. I have upped my exercise quite a lot which has meant I haven't gained since I stopped low carbing for a couple of months but I haven't lost anything either.

I am very interested in 5:2 and have 'started' on Monday having Tuesday and today (Thursday) as my down days. I have read as much as I can but just wondered if there is anything I could be doing better. I notice people have had more than 2 down days, what does that mean etc...? Is there any rules to when your down days should be?

Thank you :)

Hello,

I'm trying to find something for me and I'm looking around. I have a question. When you say down day, do you mean a day you don't eat anything? If that's so, won't that lower your metabolism?

I'd find it easier to just fast, than to count calories. Not easy, but easier.

Success to you!

Sometimes I think one if the problems is there's too much choice! I think all diets work if you're in the right place at the right time. I'm wavering between this and low carb, both of which I have good losses on, but think I'll come back to fasting now. Much simpler than anything else....i enjoyed low carb but it was ending up expensive and I was struggling to exercise.

Yes! So many diets! It is difficult to choose.

I do three down days a week so instead of doing 5:2 I am doing 4:3 the rule is you must not do two down days consecutively. My down days (500 calories) are Monday, Wednesday and Friday then all others days I am at 2100 calories.

I am no expert as am only on my third week but it's working for me so far. If you go on the website (the link is on another thread) it will give you your calorie allowances.

My understanding is that by eating 500 calories on your down days and by not doing two down days consecutively you don't give your body time to slow your metabolism.

This is really interesting as I have been doing my DDs together but now may change it, have you had ok losses? X

Thank you for your replies.

I have been on to the website and it says I would be on 2600 cal on an 'up' day. I know I am heavy to start and tall, I do walk to and from work (about 3 miles a day) but this seems like an awful lot?

Very well done!
