Thoughts??

Morning, hope everyone is well...

At group the other night I was having a chat with one of the other members+we started to talk about Hex's... she said she very rarely uses hers at all coz she thinks by not using them+avoiding eating things like cheese/bread etc it quickens up her weight loss... personally I would really struggle on the plan without mine so was quite surprised. Is there any truth in what she says? Just wondering what some of your thoughts were on this.

Thanks in advance :) x

I honestly don't know if there is any truth in this but the healthy extras are part of the plan and there for a reason. It's meant to be a change for life not a race. However, it really doesn't come as any surprise as people will 'doctor' any diet on the market if they think they will get faster results, but it doesn't mean it's necessarily going to work or if it does whether it will be a healthy and sustainable way to lose weight. Stick with the HEX's and you shouldn't go wrong :D

The Sw website says they are included to ensure we have a healthy balanced diet, but that it will not affect your losses if you choose not to have them. I assume that mean it will not improve or hamper your losses. Calcium is really important, particularly for women in later life so I think she is misguided.

Personally, I felt like I was hitting a brick wall, for weeks I was staying the same and I couldn't understand why because I was avoiding all syns and healthy extras all week. I spoke to a girl at weigh in and she told me to eat at least 10 syns per day and to have my healthy extras for a week to try it. I gave it a try and wouldn't you know I lost 2.5lb, that was 3 weeks ago and I've lost 7.5lb in total from this and I'm close to target. I think avoiding them only works for so long

I don't know too much about fibre (HExB), but I do know that calcium (HExA) can help with weight loss. Your friend could probably do with reading the following article:

Milk, Calcium and Weight Loss

The reason SW introduced a 2nd Healthy Extra A a few years ago to the Red and Green plans was exactly for this reason. Before that it was only ever 1 'A'. A 2nd one is optional though.

Personally I think anyone who doesn't have the full allowance on whatever plan you are following is denying themselves when there just isn't any need to. I mean, lets be honest, we all love food.....that's why we are here!! ;)

I started on EE but realised I was more or less following Green so switched and started having 2 He A & B's and hasn't done me any damage! Weight loss is averaging out at the same as when I was following EE and I now find SW even easier being able to have 2 HeX's :-D

I don't lose more when I don't eat my HEs, but, saying that, I often have my A choice (SS milk) and I also have yoghurt/cottage cheese, etc, so that might make a difference. I don't choose not to use my HE's but I have IBS and other than Weetabix I can't really have, or I don't like, most other things on the B list. x

Green follower here, and the only A choice I have is chocolate oat milk (I don't eat/drink any dairy products, and not keen on soy milk for drinking) It's not got all of my calcium in however, and dairy free soy yogurt is high in syns so I just have 500ml oat milk a day (meant to have 2x200mls). It's done me no harm and I always heat it up in the microwave, and its almost like a hot chocolate ;)
