Hello and where do i start?

SerenityValley

Surgically happy.
Hi everyone,

I've been around for years and this must be the 1 diet I've never tried.

I'm not sure where to start. I'm going to start next Monday and do Monday/Thursday as fast days. Will have a look on amazon for a kindle book but not sure what to get.

What are the top 3 things you'd recommend doing/not doing?

I won't be able to eat salad (being trying for 41 years to eat it but still think its vile) but will be able to eat loads of veg. Do I need to quit fizzy drinks (diet of course) on those days?

Thanks
Andy

Good luck. I just started my first fast day today. Think it's gone well so far:)

Hello all.
I'm starting too...as from tomorrow!! Good luck everyone. I'm going to use my fitness pal to count calories (even the alcohol)...there I've said it now. Time to make this happen and stop talking about it. I have about 2-3stone I'd like to loose, what your targets?? Just think, we could loose a stone in the next month, two soon after, just need to stick at it!)

Welcome Andy! I can recommend Michael Mosley's book. I think it's called The Fast Diet.

1) I always try try to prepare for each fast day so I know exactly what I'm going to eat.

2) Find out what works best for you on a fast day - some like to have 3 small meals, some eat nothing at all until their evening meal.

3) Drink loads of water on fast days. I invested in a water bottle that has a carbon filter inside and the whole thing is dishwasher safe.

Hi folks,

Good luck tipsy and Emma.

I have 3st to lose just to get to a weight where I feel comfortable, and another 4st to lose to get into a healthy range (though I've been there and looked terrible).

I'm doing well - I've had about 250 calories so far and have logged another 130 to have later. I'm trying to work out what I could have to bring me to 500 without eating for the sake of it.

Monday will be better as I'll have soup at work and a mini meal at home (I had fruit at work today and soup for dinner).

Drank load of water, and feel good. Had a 2 mile walk and even mowed the lawn.

I got the book you mention Caz. Not too sure I think much of it yet because it's telling me a lot that I'm not bothered about (I don't need selling on the idea but the book feels like it's trying to persuade me) but hopefully it gets to the meat of the diet soon.

I like the idea of doing this permanently - albeit 6:1 eventually.

Looking forward to tomorrow, knowing I can eat again.

Andy

All going very well. I've even moved up to 4:3 this week and will swap between that and 5:2.

I had a weeks holiday though, where I made the mistake of not fasting I gained 7.4lbs that week. I've lost almost all of that this week, and aim to do 4:3 next week.

I'm finding it very easy. Though I'm much hungrier on non fasting days, so I'll need to be careful.

I think the 7+ months I spent on lighterlife make it easy for meto do this! as what's 1 day against that amount of time?

My day looks roughly like this:

2 mile walk to work.

Several coffees, win a splash of milk

2 mile walk home from work.

Soup (between 100 and 200 calories).

Sandwich 300 calories
Crisps 100 calories

I don't count the milk - I think 4 miles walking covers those 40 or 50 cals.

Other days I have a 300 calorie meal instead of soup, in which case I have cereal instead of a sarnie.

A good plan is good idea. I'm fasting split days 5pm-5pm, only eating 600cals in that time. Got 400 left to do me today

Still cracking on with this and doing ok. This morning I dropped under 18st. I have 3 days without a fast now, and normally I gain between 2 and 4 pounds over the weekend. Aiming to try to keep that under 1 pound this week.

Hi suze,

So far I think I've lost 22lbs since May. Some of that was yoyo from a previous diet, so at least 15lbs of new loss.

I do it 3 times a week and I'm now just managing to get a grip on weekends, so I am expecting to lose more. Quickly. If it starts to come off too quickly, I'll switch to 5:2.

About the easiest diet I've ever done. And I genuinely believe that I can sick to it once I have reached a reasonable goal.

You doing it, or just thinking about it?

So glad to hear that you are doing so well and have found a plan that suits you.

Excellent weight loss!

Well done:happy096:

Yeah I am doing it too. So far I've lost about 5lbs in 2 weeks but never weighed in last week and changed my fast days to suit as I as in hols for 5 days. So did it the day before I went and the day after I came back so sun and sat. Then back to my normal of tues and fri :) I did weigh myself sat morning and again today and I out on 3lbs over my hols which is actually good for me lol and this morning I have lost it and a 1lb more :) so hopefully if if my body does the right thing I should loose maybe another 1lb :)
