Should I be proud or disappointed?

Today was my first weigh in day. After one week of SW I've lost 1lb. I DO feel proud of myself for losing something but I just wondered if it should have been more. Any advice is appreciated.

Be proud. Not everyone starts with a massive loss. It depends upon a few things and ALWAYS evens out. The bigger losses are often water weight and so someone who loses 4,5 or 6 lb in week one will commonly stay the same the following. :)

You should be proud! Every 1lb counts and that is one less you have to lose now! x

Morning Natalie,
I've never been a big "weekly loser" but slimming world has helped me lose 3st 10lbs in just under 3 years, but more importantly, the small losses have helped me keep it off. Just think, u lost 1lb this week, how much would u hv gained had u not been on SW? It's a great start, u should feel proud of the loss & of the path you've chosen being at SW x well done hun! x L x

Be proud! Lots of people don't have huge losses the first week. According to your statistics, a pound off every week for six months will see you only four pounds off your target weight!

Thanks for all your support! I really think this website is great for everyone trying to lose weight and I'm so glad I found it! I'm definitely staying on my SW journey and I hope one day I'll be able to give advice like you all have for me!

Definitely proud! I had a little loss my 1st week and a bigger loss my second week. Your first week loss is really dependant on how much changes you've made in your diet. If you had a really bad diet full of calories and takeaways etc you would have had to make quite significant changes on the slimming would diet and probably have a big loss. However if your diet pre SW was quite healthy and balanced you would be making smaller changes that would lead to a smaller loss.

Did you take your measurements at the start? Sometimes the inches show before the pounds go :)

I didn't measure myself but I'm going to tonight and hopefully I'll notice something! My diet before SW wasn't bad so you're probably right! I'm going to keep at it and also start going to the gym this week!

A pound is great. You have a less to lose than many people who start out, which can mean smaller losses, but you'll get there sooner than you think!

yeah i agree be proud. 1 pound is very good especially as your diet before slimming world was pretty good :) x

I put on half a pound in my first week even though I stuck to it 100%!!

I've been doing it 2 months now and generally loose 1.5 ibs a week, so don't let it put tou off!

You should definitely be proud of yourself, it's a step in the right direction and a positive change in your your life. I think if you lose nice and steadily without being too hard on yourself or being too restrictive you're more likley to stick to it and not fall off the wagon, I've been doing it for just over a year and I've lost over 5.5 stones which averages just over a lb a week, I don't feel like I'm dieting and it hasn't stopped me having takeaways or drinking or going out. Good luck with your journey x

Yes, ditto to all the replies above. I stuck to plan 100% on my first week, only to put ON one pound! I was totally gutted and demoralised but stuck with it and lost four pounds the following week! :) Definitely be proud of your one pound loss and, also, the fact you've taken the step to lose weight in the first place. Don't forget, Mini's is always here for you too. Good luck, Natalie.

Kathy x
