Syns in Quinoa

From what I can see its free on EE and green, synned on red :

quinoa 100g made as directed 7 syns on redquinoa 100g dried 19 1/2 syns

:)

The only book I have to hand is a bit old (the one with the green heart-shaped lime on the cover) , but quinoa is listed in that in the syns listings at the back under rice, pasta and grains (in my book, page 60) where it says that it is free on green and EE and is 2 syns per 28g cooked weight on red.

I thought it had to be synned so I found a free alternative. Bulgar wheat is pretty much exactly the same (I cant find a difference anyway!)

You just put it in boiling water for half an hour until it soaks it up and then it's ready to eat.

I crumble a veg stock cube into it to give it some taste and then put chunks of cucumber, peppers, red onion, grated carrot etc and eat it cold. It's really refreshing and filling too!

I love quinoa, and bulgur wheat, but cook mine (bulgur)only for 5/7m. Doesnt need to much cooking, i cook it together with cabage or brocoli, to substitute rice. And is it free, full of fibre and quinoa full of protein. Nice staff...

Anyone know what the syn value of the Merchant Gourmet precooked Quinoa is? I'm assuming it has one as it has oil in it. I know that a whole pack of it is no more than 10g of olive oil, which is 0.73 tablespoons - so about 1.5 syns in the whole pack if that's all I'm measuring - but just wanted to check if it's as simple as that!

This was the only one I could find

Merchant gourmet red & white quinoa ready to eat 250g pouch

G & EE 6.5
O 25.5

That's the one breeza - thank you. I normally have 1/4 of a pack in my salad, so about 1.5ish syns. That's fine and saves the hassle of cooking it myself (and cleaning the strainer - impossible!)

I microwave dried Quinoa with veg stock for about 8 or 9 minutes total, fluffing it up every 2 or 3 minutes as we go. Comes out nice and no straining and free :)
