Body Magic/Flexible Syns?

Hi all.

So i'm sticking to the 15 syns a day and under dealie every day. Some days i'll have very little and others, I may use all 15. I average around 11 though.

I've started running to train for a mini marathon. I'm running about 4-5 times a week at 20-30 mins a time. What is the story with body magic? Do you get extra syns or what? Even when I was in group last year, my consultant was quite cagey about what it meant.

Same goes for flexible syns. How many are you actually allowed? I'd love to have a few beers this weekend but I always seem to feel guilty when I do because I don't know how many extra syns I can have from flexible syns or body magic. I never eat extra syns just because I ran. But cumulatively, could I have a few beers this weekend now due to leftover syns, flexible (what the hell are they??) syns and leftover syns?

Thanks.

No you don't get more syns, flexi syns to me, would be cutting down to say 5 per day then having maybe 20 or 30 one day, then back down again to cover eating out etc.

No you don't get any extra. If your exercising that much I would think you'll be fine to have a few beers at the weekend. Enjoy!

Nothing extra for exercising, the point being that you exercise for health and wellness, not so you can eat more. I don't think SW want people out pounding the roads so they can have an extra few syns.

For flexisyns you don't save up your syns through the week, you have them as you normally would. If you want to have a few beers, work out their syns in advance. Then decide that you're going to have those syns on Sat night. EG my 4 beers will equal 35 syns (or whatever). So you're having 35 flexi syns. Then Sunday you're back on plan, 15 syns as normal.

Would that not make you gain though? I don't want to stay the same at weigh in cos i'm only a pound off half a stone. So i'd prefer to go on the dry this weekend if 4 cans make me gain. Aagh. It's hard to know what to do.

And a bleedin' sticker for body magic??? They can keep it! :D haha

Yeah, you could gain, but chances are that one day off plan won't affect your losses too much. And if you do gain, you'll know why. Sucks doesn't it?

Yes it sucks in the extreme! On WW, they give you activity points which is bloody great for the weekend. I used to walk every day and so i'd store them up for the weekend. I know that SW is generally more flexible which is great. But it's damn hard to eat out and drink on the feckin' thing. My plan now is to try and lose an extra five pounds below my target. I am then gonna go on a holiday and eat and drink my t1ts off!! Back at target when I get home. :D

For me, flexible syns means I avoid the "oh god I've blown it so might as well carry on blowing it" feeling. I might STS or even gain, but I have remained in control of my eating. I know this sounds like so much psychobabble but it has made a huge difference to the way I feel and act around food, and has meant that I have stuck with SW far longer than I ever have any other diet.

Thats because you have to eat more to fuel your increased activity and the only way to do that on propoints is to give you more points. On SW you have all your free and superfree foods that you can eat in unlimited amounts so there's no need to give you more of anything let alone syns ;)

I don't think its hard eating out or drinking on SW. You can get a lot from 15 syns and if you need more then just save some for a few days so you have a bit more leeway at the weekend

The way I've always understood flexi syns is that you decide your upper syn limit for that on-off day (be it 30 or 70 or even more) and then stick to that. Sure you may maintain or gain next WI but it's a means of still keeping yourself in check without having a massive out of control blow out - I know that for me that sort of food splurge would make it very hard for me to get back on track.
