Confused By Plans!

Hi,

I'm going to my first SW meeting tomorrow and am arriving completely open minded with no experience of the plan before at all. Reading on here (including the guides) I see there are three different plans - how do you choose which is for you? I'm conscious of arriving at the group and just picking which is the most popular rather than which fits with the kind of person I am :).

A bit about me: I have no real sweet tooth I am crazy for carbs and savoury snacks (I know I know this is gonna be a big change). When I've tried to make changes before I've substituted protein/meat-based snacks if for carbs (crisps/pastry) and this seemed to work OK. Aside from that there's nothing really to say except you'll never really find me snacking on fruit as it isn't for me, yoghurt fine, smoothies fine but I can't imagine I'll ever sit an eat an apple (is this awful?).

Any advice of simple explanation would be wonderful :)

Thank you! x

Hi hatchlings - I'm new too, first weigh in tomorrow!

My consultant advised I start on extra easy and see how that works. I'm a savoury person too so make sure I have lots of things like cold meat and fruit to hand - meals have been great too as I can still have potatoes which I love!

I'd ask your advisor tomorrow, good luck with your first meeting! X

Thanks Steph!

I know how you feel about potatoes :).
Cold meat is gonna be my new best friend I fear and I reckon I'll probably end up on Extra Easy too - I guess it's the best place to start if you don't know what you're doing?!

Good luck with your weigh in tomorrow :) xx

Thank you! Had a bit of a lapse over the weekend but still hoping for a slight loss. Cold meat saved me from a hangover yesterday!

The groups are great and you get loads of inspiration from them. The only thing I've struggled with is the planning, as I. Just so used to running to Pret at lunchtime for a sandwich. Went food shopping today so hopefully all good for the week.

Enjoy your group tomorrow and let us know how you get on x

Thanks I'll try.
I wanted to sort my food shopping order tonight but literally haven't got a clue what to buy! I'll have to do it tomorrow - I'm excited at the moment - I hope it lasts awhile!

Consultants push the extra easy plan, it is the simplest one and fits in with life so easy!! The smoothies won't be free, if we blend or mash fruit it becomes synned.

There's salads you can get from pret a manger steph, but I bet you can make more filling lunches for less money :) I love making extra at dinner time to take the next day to work for lunch

I don't choose smoothies that's just something I tried in the past to boost my fruit intake - fruit just isn't my friend! I'd rather have none if I'm honest which is probably unhealthy but it's the truth sadly! x

I agree Rochelle, I dread to think how much I spent when I went there every day! Went to sainsburys today and spent £60, that's 4 nights of dinners for me and my OH, 4 lunches and loads of fruit / healthy extras x

I've just done a £60 order online for the 4 us - luckily we had a lot of meat in so that was mainly veg haha!!

There is a lot of emphasis on what SW calls "superfree" foods, which is most fruit and vegetables. But you don't have to eat fruit if you don't want to. Eat vegetables instead.

Well veg is supposed to be better for u than fruit so don't worry you will be fine

Hello!

I started SW last week and have my first weigh in this Thursday. I'm following the EE plan and have to say have found it fairly simple to follow. The first few days took a bit of planning but I roughly know what I doing now!

Good Luck
:D

Thanks Lucy :)
I'm hoping it'll feel easy for me too - just weighed in and not good!! x

Don't worry about fruit, I'm not a massive fan and rarely eat any. I don't seem to snack a lot between meals as I have massive portions and feel full up. If I do want a snack I usually use my syns for chocolate. Good luck!

Thanks - I'm hoping I can adopt that mentality - I feel completely overwhelmed at the moment - it's weird thinking I can't jsut have a sandwich or toast all the time! Need to think outside the box!! :D

Don't worry hun, you'll be fine. My advice to you would be:

Once you've got home from your first class, make some time to read through the books cover to cover. Then read through them a few more times over the next week or two until it "clicks". It took me two weeks of reading the books cover to cover and then it suddenly clicked - it probably won't take you that long but I had come from WW so needed to change my mentality.

Best to start on Extra Easy first, get totally to grips with that one before thinking about green and red days (unless a vegetarian).

You can still have plenty of carbs on EE (they are unlimited) so will suit you fine.

I wouldn't worry too much about fruit, although for obvious health benefits it would be good to incorporate some into your diet.

Try to vary your diet as much as possible.

Read through the food diaries on here for inspiration.

Actually this forum is amazing really. I definitely view it as my second "consultant".

Good luck and let us know how you are getting on.

OH and finally, don't worry that you are eating too much, as long as you are sticking to plan you'll be fine x

Thank you so much for all your kind and helpful advice - I genuinely need it :)!

It feels OK today - I have read everything and breakfast has been and gone so I'm just trying to plan the rest of the day/week!

Looks like my starting point was pretty similar to yours so I am hoping I can do as well as you :) - I did WW but it was awhile ago and so it's not fresh in my mind!!

Thanks again :D

My pleasure. I ADORE SW and it was definitely the best move I made. Feel free to trawl through my food diaries and my blog, I'm always about if you need to ask something.

Good luck xx
