Extra Easy: Taking the Extra Easy path down the aisle...

Hey everyone!

I'm coming here in search of a lifestyle change that will get me to my goal wedding weight - I'm getting married to my best friend and love of my life on 29th July this year and I want to lose at least 3st 5lbs by that time.

I've been on VLCDs and TFR diets in the past and I'm sick of the roller-coaster ride that they put me on. I've realised that avoiding food is not the answer and I need to change my attitude towards food. I started off in January 2013 at 21st 4lbs and lost 5st on VLCDs/TFR diets. I'm now 17st 12lbs and want to be 14st 7lbs on my wedding day, my lowest ever adult weight. I did a VLCD a few years ago and lost 7st to get to 14st 11lbs but gained it all back. I'm aiming to beat that and keep it off!

I've 'tried' SW before - I say 'tried' because I never gave it a proper shot. I 'tried' it back when it was green and red days, and I've 'tried' EE but I really didn't bother following it properly. Needless to say, I didn't see any results and never last a full week. This time, I'm determined to give it a proper shot. I'm running out of time and I'm sick of failing!

Anyway, wish me luck - I'll be doing SW at home as I work shifts so can't make a group. By the way, I have noticed that whenever I start a thread on here, it dies a death and I end up talking to myself so please don't be strangers - do pop in to say hello!

Hi :)
I think ur goal is a great motivation for ur journey.
well done on ur losses so far! Its amazing.

Just thought ide say hi and good luck :)

Good luck. You've done so well to loose so much weight. Slimming world is great as it's not just about dieting, it's changing your eating habits for good. I'm really enjoying and don't feel deprived at all, if your hungry there's always something you can have.

How are you finding slimming world so far?

Well done on your loss so far. Sounds like your head is in the right place. I think we all recognise there have been times when we've 'tried' to lose weight but surprise surprise we end up bigger than before! I'm able to attend a group each week and there are at least 2 or 3 ladies who were there when I started in July who lose one week and gain the next and it's so sad as I know I've been there for much of my adult life. But sometimes if we're really lucky we wake up to ourselves/have a big motivation (such as you're exciting big day) and just decide to do it. (She says sounding like a fanatical member of a cult!!)
I wish you all the luck in the world. ..I'm sure you'll do it. I love the fact that you've set yourself an achievable goal. (I know I've set myself up to fail before by setting a huge goal in a short timeframe and then, when it became apparent I wouldn't get there in time, said "sod it", gave up and put it all back on and more). Keep us posted x

Thanks everyone! It's so nice to have such lovely motivating comments :)

I'm focusing on cutting back on rubbish this week as I'm preparing to do my first SW shop at the weekend. Does anyone have any tips about handy syn free snacks etc? And how to keep the shopping bill down?

I have lost 4lbs already just by drinking more water and cutting back on junk - onwards and downwards! Xx

Well done on the 4lb loss.
As for syn free snacks..obviously superfree are best (fruit or veg sticks etc) but sometimes carrot sticks just don't satisfy! So 'free' snacks could include lean cooked meat eg ham etc, seafood/fish eg crabsticks, hardboiled eggs, syn-free yoghurts ie muller-lights or you can use your HexB as your snacks eg hifi bars, ryvitas etc. For me when I get the munchies I need something savoury so I often have some SW quiche (with superfree in it) in the fridge and cut off a small slice and that keeps me from the biscuit tin.
As for cutting down the shopping bill..I buy my 'staple' foods in Aldi's as they're really cheap for things like frozen veg and frozen fruit, pasta, passata, tinned veg etc as well as their fresh fruit and veg. I'm lucky enough to have a local market near our aldi and there's a brilliant greengrocer's stall so I get a huge amount (we're a family of 4) of fruit and veg from there every fortnight (it's so fresh it lasts for 2wks in the fridge) which costs c £20-25 (way cheaper than any supermarket). I'd def. recommend finding a farmshop or local market for fruit and veg as on sw we eat so much of it!

Wow you've done well already! Well Done :)

If me & my mega fussy eating habits can stick to SW then anyone can!!

Also my leader says if you fancy something then have it (in moderation), the more you deprive yourself of something the more your likely to over indulge on everything in site haha!!

Good Luck!!

Sounds like you are really determined to do it :) have you picked a dress already, imagining yourself in that must be great motivation :)

Result for the week was a whopping 7lbs off! So pleased! :D Full on SW this week so let's hope the losses continue! X

Excellent..well done you! :)

You must be so pleased. The plan def.works when we really set our minds to it. You've obviously been using the incentive of your big day and 'the dress'. Xx

Definitely! I'm going to order it this week, eeeek! I know it's taking a big chance ordering it in the size I hope to be by the wedding but I'm much smaller on the top than my hips and this dress is only fitted down to the waist so it should be fine. I'm ordering a 16 and I'm an 18 top, 20 bottom. I'm positive it will be fine!
