i know you are surposed to count your salad and your fruit but i feel that i should be encouraged to have them and my fitnesspal isnt motivating me to eat my 5 a day as i have to count do people just not count them and how do you but your salad it takes me ages.:sigh:

If you eat things regularly then you can make up a "recipe" for your salad.... for example weigh out 6 slices of cucumber and a normal-sized tomato that you eat, along with anything else you have as a standard salad (I like a few olives on my lettuce and raw mushrooms too) and then create your recipe so the next time you have your standard salad, you just click on your recipes and it'll put it straight in for you! The other thing is that they will show in your recent or frequent foods too so you can just re-select them :)

I count them. And I usually log tomorrow's food the night before so that I can make changes/cut backs as and where I need to, instead of realising I only have say 45 calories left and my veggies being 100 cal. You can almost always cut back somewhere - a bit less rice, less sauce, not as much meat etc.

Fruit averages out at 80 calories per piece - that adds up. Non-starchy veg you can almost get away with because the values are so low (depending on how much you eat).

Do whatever works for you but if your weight loss starts slowing down then if your not counting fruits and veg then start because it can (and does) make a difference to your total.

I try doing and things dont work out meals change and lunch changes because I'm not in so its what i can get.

great idea i have just made my salad recipe it works out 39 kcals lets hope i stick to it lol

I must admit I round up and guess a bit but I do log fruit and veg. If I'm eating raw carrots, fair enough, I know I've eaten say two carrots and a third of a tub of hummus. But if I cook a Big batch of bolognese that has carrots in, I'll just stick down half a cup to cover myself :)

Deffo log your fruit! I recently weighed out my fruit and was shocked to discover an apple, pear, banana and orange came in at over 300 cals!

Well of course fruit is currently in the bad books because the emphasis has shifted from fat to sugar, and it's full of the stuff - doesn't matter that it's fructose, it's still public enemy number one, lol. ;) xx

I always used to be 'pro-fruit' ha ha! Used to eat the stuff willy nilly until I realised that!
