Starting calorie counting today!

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say hello and looking forward to visiting the forum again on a regular basis for some inspiration and support! Last year I lost nearly 3 stone on the Cambridge Diet but as soon as I came off it I started eating as I pleased again and put around half of it back on.
I have been suffering from acid reflux which I put down to stress and weight and could hardly eat anything without getting heartburn before Christmas on a daily basis, even when I was just living on bland vegetables! I lost a few pounds due to this but at Christmas time I resumed back to my normal diet once I realised that it didn't make my reflux any worse (in fact, it appeared to improve slightly!) so therefore I have had no motivation or strength to eat healthily.

I have been using MyFitnessPal in conjunction with the FitBit activity tracker on and off and this is what I'll be using to help me calorie count. My husband has lost over a stone in the past few months through this method as well as going to the gym and even though I've called him crazy for counting every single little calorie and recording it, deep down I know it's the only way to do it so here goes...wish me luck and all the best to you all! I'm currently 15 and a half stone and need to get down to 9 and a half!

Good luck, I've just started calorie counting properly in the last few days, also using myfitnesspal... I think it's a method that's more likely to help train your brain towards making healthy choices long term - I've just had a nice big bowl of veg and lentil soup (118 calories worked out using the 'Recipes' bit of myfitnesspal), I'm about to have a banana, and then chicken, new potatoes and salad later...

Hello and good luck! I have been calorie counting mixed with fasting and im loving seeing the lbs disappear. Im subscribing to your journey so we can help eachother on the way :) x

Well I would encourage you to stick with calorie counting because it really does work. Sometimes I try to do it without myfitnesspal but I have found that I lose weight best when I log everything I eat into myfitnesspal. Yes it can be annoying at times but it is worth it when you see the pounds disappear.

i agree if i do not put my menus on mfp i goes to pot lol
