What weeks is slimmer of the month calculated and how do you win? I really want to win it this month as our consultant gives out a free hair cut voucher and im overdue a trim but saving for a mortgage hehe so for slimmer of month in feb what weeks are included? X

Isn't it just all weeks of that month? So if you get weighed on a wednesday they would count your results from 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th February.

I don't know if they discard your very first weeks loss, but as you're already 5 weeks in that wouldn't affect you anyway.

Oh ok. I wasnt sure if last week counted too as it was announced last week so wasnt sure if that announcement included last weeks weigh ins or not x

At my group they announce it on the last WI of the month after they've got the results. Like Stevie said it'll be your results from 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th (provided that you're a Wed weigher) that will determine the winner this month.

It's nice your consultant gives you a voucher, we just get a certificate x

We get a slimming world mug but that excited me and hadn't expected to win for January so was over the moon. At my meeting they included the weigh in results that night. They calculated it after the weigh ins. Very hard thing to aim for. I won with 9lbs but the month before they had lost 15lbs!! Good luck :)

Yeah it really varies a lot. I've won it 3 times with 10.5lbs, 11lbs and 7.5lbs, just depends how everyone else does really. In a way I think its actually kinda unfair to smaller members who tend to have lower losses, maybe using % loss would be a fairer way of doing things. All you need is someone with a really high starting weight to join (like when I joined!) and most people will have no chance at matching the losses.

I got January SOM and just got a sticker lol it was a nice surprise though I wasn't expecting it xxx

To do it by % is a fab idea, wonder if they will ever do that.

You'd think so but SW do seem to be a bit behind the times. Tbh I can't take the credit as I saw something similar in biggest loser. Does seem a fairer system though.

Hm interesting. I think % would be 'fairer' but on the other hand someone on here pointed out that people with more to lose might need the extra motivation to keep them going on a longer journey! (ha look at me using the SW journey lingo).

I don't really mind that I'll almost certainly never win SOTW or SOTM, but I have to confess it means I usually don't remember to take something for the basket either  unless I happen to spot something on my way out the door - we plan our weekly shop very tightly so there's not much spare unless they want half a punnet of fruit or half a melon or something!

There are people bigger than me at group. If I stick to plan 100pecent I can lose 4-5lb a week. Yes I still have alot to lose. Currently at 14stone 12.5 at 5 foot 7.5. But there is another woman who must be size10-12 who if she puts in 100% can lose 6lb in a week! So dont think it's always as unfair as you say. If everyone gave 100% all time maybe then they would have to base it on % loss. Different people win almost each week in our group :)

Sow was announced in our group last week (go me hehe) not sure where they get the stats from as I got it with 10lb loss but had lost 12lb. But my first week was 4lb which I assumed they didn't count??

Anyway was a nice surprise. I got a pen pmsl!!

To be honest if she's that small, I'm not convinced it's very healthy to lose 6lb a week! Medical guidelines say to aim for 1-2lb!

She did a success express week and those were the results x

Your first weeks weight loss is halved.

Jeanne,
I agree i love SW, but i think their meetings are naff , i don't won't to spend an hour clapping,,,, boring!!!!! I want inspiration!!! And some people have amazing stories, recipes tips et etc,,, i think foe what we pay going to club is worth it ,,,,, however,,,,,, dare i say it at least at weight watchers you do get a weekly magazine/leaflet some kind on literature to read after that would keep me more motivated than clapping for an hour ,,,, come on SW ,,, you can do better for your members who pay enough and are loyal !!!

The inspiration, stories, recipes etc come from the members in the group and are shared during the "boring hour of clapping"
its what group is all about. Your chance to ask for help, support and share with others.
Slimming aworld groups and their methods are inspirational. You get out what you put in :)

I see both points about the meetings but think it hugely depends on the people. I have been to meetings in the past and not stayed as felt the leader wasn't so interested and the group weren't enthusiastic. The leader I have during 'the hour of clapping' discusses recipes and tips and helps people that are struggling. Also agree that a bit more literature would be good.
