Bad consultant

Ours is TERRIBLE. Forgets things, is too quiet, not outgoing, does the same thing every week, mucks up people's losses in image therapy - it's so so frustrating. Has anyone else experienced this? I can't move classes which is even more infuriating.

Imirbop, is it a new group or a well established group you go to? and the reason you can't swap is it geographical? or a timing issue?

I usually don't stay at the meetings so I get weighed and go home. However I don't particularly like the leader as I don't feel it's very personal. What's it like doing it online?

It's good x its there 24/7 to look back at your progress. Recipe ideas support and its comfort of your own house xx

I like going to group, I like the other people and the discipline of being weighed every week.

I have children which means it's the only convenient one, unfortunately.

Mine isn't great either, has no clue when it comes to food, so recipes are out with her, there's no real discussion, if you try to get one going she's clock watching.

I'm just not convinced by her....& she also gets a bit smug if you've gained or your shocked at how little you've lost.

Is she new? Does she need a while to get used to being a consultant? It can be very daunting.

Does she need help? Does she have a "committee" - people to help with setting up the room, paying-in, weighing, etc? If not, could some people volunteer to help?

If she really is hopeless and you see no hope for improvement, then you could contact SW head office and explain what is happening, then she could be offered help through the area, regional and national networks.

There was a fantastic consultant at my old group, but she left so I have migrated to a different group now. Having a friendly/inspirational consultant really does make all the difference doesn't it X

^This^

If things don't improve then you can always speak to someone at SW head office and they can offer her further training, support and give her ideas/tips on how to run a group.

Agreed!

Also, it's worth bearing in mind that, while it's great to get it off your chest on a forum, if you really want to make a change/difference, the above mentioned route is the way to go: for your sake, for her sake and for the sake of the group :)

I get that it can be daunting, but it's just ridiculous, I feel like it's a total waste of my money. All of us feel this way. I don't know what we can do to change it.

I don't know what we can do to change it.

Call SW head office as suggested several times above. Nothing is going to change if the issue isn't brought to anyone's attention.

Were they helpful? Did they say what, if anything, they could/would do?

Get back onto them xx

I had a bad consultant the first time i was on SW. I have now joined one of the local village groups and it is great the people are really friendly as i was a bit worried at first with me being in the town and not the village but they have all welcomed me with open arms and the consultant is fantastic I call him my little gok wan because he makes you feel so special and gives you motivation.
