Has anyone had problems losing weight with gall bladder problems

I was admitted to hospital at Christmas with Cholecystitis (infected gall bladder), it's still blocked and I'm waiting to have it removed. I lost 9lbs whilst in hospital due to not being able to eat but since I've come home I've lost 1/2, gained 2.5, lost 1/2 and gained 3. This is the first time since I've joined SW that I've gained and it not come off again straight after. I've been doing SW for a year now and I know what I'm doing, I'm usually under my syns and good with my food, don't understand why I'm gaining. I was just wondering if anyone else had had similar problems. x

Oh god exact same as me!! Had my GB removed March 2012. After that lost and gained the same couple of pounds or so every week. So frustrating. Even when I was on a proper run of being 100% still no better results.
I think the main issue is, you've lost an organ from your digestive system and your body now behaves and reacts differently to everything you eat.
Ive been getting sick of working so hard on my weight loss and not getting anywhere, that aswell as going to my sw meetings and cooking my sw meals. I'm calorie counting aswell. Done it for 2 weeks and lost 2lbs both weeks, which for me is a miracle ! Still using the methods of sw as it has served me well over the years BUT I don't think my body likes me just shovelling copious amounts of 'free' food down my neck as let's face it. It's still food and calories !
I just think it's probably more difficult for us now. Maybe have a go at cc? Download my fitness pal and work out your calories. Worth a shot. Keep me posted how you get on. Nice to hear someone the same as me with the same issues on here!! Xx

By the way the op is no problem at all. Best thing I ever did x

Thank you for your response, I'm not worried about the op I've had 3 c-sections, in fact I just want them to pull it out so I can get back to "normal". It's just bugging me putting on weight when I'm doing it 100% and giving it all I've got. I'm glad it's not just me, I thought my body was playing silly b@ggers. I'm already on MFP but haven't used it in a while so I might start using again along side SW and see what happens x

It's worth a shot? Oh and I didn't mean don't worry from a pain perspective about the op cause trust me I couldn't wait to get it removed like you, but you read so many horror stories online about the after effects of having it removed. Scaremongering!!

The first couple of weeks after op are interesting if you you try eat anything with fat in! But other than that you adjust quickly.

Its just the weight thing unfort. But I can honestly say now I'm doing cc aswell as sw it's moving again. I used to be able to eat jacket pots for lunch every day then with evening meal have more pots, rice or pasta. I just can't do that anymore. Just don't lose weight! I've also stopped having weetabix in the morn and just eat fruit.
Yeah give mfp another whirl and keep in touch. Would love to know how you get on with your op diet etc xx
