Hi,

I started the 5:2 diet last Monday weighing in at 12st6lb. Have tried every diet under the sun, you name it I've tried it. I've been 13st at my heaviest and 9st at my lightest (those were the days). After my first week of fasting I've lost 6lbs which I was extremely pleased about so was feeling quite slim in my size 14 trousers which I no longer have to tie a hair band round the buttons (please tell me I'm not the only one who does this). Unfortunately my trousers had other ideas as when I bent over to grab a file from the cabinet, I together with the rest of the office heard an almighty rip and now my ass is hanging out of my trousers (thank god that 1. I've got proper knickers on today not my usual thong and 2. I'm wearing a long top).

Enough is enough I will NOT spend another summer covering up my flabby bits and pretending that I'm happy the way I am whilst looking enviously at every thin girl that goes past and wishing that I had had the willpower to stick to a diet instead of munching my way through a packet of biscuits and telling myself I'll start again tomorrow.

If this doesn't give me the kick up the ass that I need I don't know what will.

I WILL BE THIN:)

Oh i feel for you! But we've heard it so many times, there is something that happens to everyone who finally gets slim that makes them do it. I hope today is your 'thing'. I'm trying the 5:2 as well, this is my fast day. I will eat at 7pm. Remarkably un-hungry so far.Fingers crossed x

Hello and good luck with your weight loss journey! I started doing 5:2 on Monday which was my first fast day, and I found it surprisingly easy!

Having up days feels really weird but fab :)

Having another fast day on Thurs.

Oh no! As Firstimer rightly says, memorise that moment and use it as a motivational tool whenever you need a boost. I have been doing 5:2 for a while now and honestly believe it is a sustainable way of eating. The fast days are tough at first but get easier.

Wish you all the best with it xxx

Oh no, poor you! It's good that something spurred you on though!

I'm doing a mix of SW and 5:2, 6lbs is brill! Good luck!

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear your episode but WELL DONE on the loss!
Do you have a diary set up on here so we can follow your journey?

Thanks guys for your support.
I'm now on my 4th fast day and must admit I'm finding it pretty easy going.
Weigh in tomorrow, but TOTM so hope that it doesn't affect my weight loss also may have overdone it on feast days so will have to wait and see.
FINGERS CROSSED XX

Hi again, today is my second fast day. Can anyone confirm what i heard today? I heard you should eat no more than 2000 cals on your five days? Is this the case? I thought those days were normal eating. Im quite sure i would eat more than 2000 cals a day normally, otherwise i wouldn't be fat lol. So do i need to calorie count on non fast days?

This made me laugh! I'm quite sure I eat more than 2,000 calories a day too but I imagine we do have to tone down the normal days somewhat because you need a bigger calorie deficit than just the 2 fast days. If I ate whatever & however much I wanted without any restraint on a normal day I'm pretty sure 2 fasts wouldn't make a dint in the weight loss each week

Thanks, i think it might be best if i try to roughly count on a normal day for first few times, then I'll have a better idea of how much i guzzle generally and go from there.

That's what I'm doing, I wasn't going to but couldn't bear to think that I might be eating 4000 calories without knowing lol.

I'll probably only do it for a week or two though.

That's the thing, we could easily be eating so much more than 2000, but it was sold to me as a feast day. You surely can't really have a feast lol? Because a feast in my eyes could do some damage. Still happy if i can eat 2000 cals per day on my eating days, still seems a good deal to me.

You need to calculate your TDEE. Everyone is different.

I think mine is 2300 ish.

I did count yesterday on a feast day for a change and came in around 2200.

Here's what I had

Cheese & ham sarnie with salad cream
Cheese & onion crisps
100g grapes
Muller corner

Sausage pasta bake with a bit of cheese & dollop mayo

Club cake bar & 3 biscuits

I missed brekkie cos I was trying 16:8 out but still managed to consume my cals in 2 meals!

Hello Everyone!

Just reading through.... hope you don't mind me joining in!

I'm actually doing the Every Other Day Diet (every other day is a fast day) did my 3rd fast day yesterday. I use My Fitness Pal to keep a log of what I eat... no necessarily to count cals.

My second eating day was 3000 calories :eek:.... curry and wine will do that to you!

buy my first eating day was only 1800 cals... today I've planned what I'm having, not in an obsessive way, but just in a this is what I'm having let's just see what it comes to...

Well without counting on my 5 days i managed 2.25 lbs off. This week i am going to count cals on my weekday feast days, and worry about the weekend at the weekend.
