Step 1 Sole Source Struggling with Cambridge Diet

I have a 7 month old baby girl and piled on4 stone during my pregnancy. I have just had my first weigh in after week one on the Cambridge diet. It has been a very long week. Out of the seven days on the diet I was 100% on four days and cheated on three days. I Don't think I am in ketosis at the moment because of the cheats. I still managed to loose 4lbs but am very disappointed in myself as this week should have been my biggest loss. I feel like a failure and am trying to be positive and tell myself I can do it 100% this week. I am finding the thought of not being able to eat anything for weeks very depressing! My consultant suggested I move onto sole+ and introduce chicken/tuna. Has anyone done this? Is the weight loss the same? I find I am fine all day but the evenings are the hardest. My partner is away at work for 6 weeks and I usually have friends over for dinner/wine in the evenings. I have avoided inviting anyone round to avoid temptation but I think I may be eating out of boredom in the evenings as I feel I can cope with the hunger. I am finding it a very antisocial diet. I have been invited to a birthday party tonight and a lunch tomorrow but don't think I will be able to go to either as both involve food and drink. I am trying to tell myself its only a few months of my life and then I will be happy with my appearance again. Has anyone got any tips? Anything to help me get through the lonely evenings?
Much Appreciated,
Laura xx

Hi there
Please don't despair you've started the plan and seem like you do want to do it so that's the first step. The thing is you have to be mentally ready otherwise it's a waste of your time and money and will leave you feeling worse if you don't get on it and stick to it. Evenings are a struggle I found that out last time, I'm a lone parent of 2 but during the day I'm at work so it's easy to stick to the plan but in the evenibgs once my 2 are asleep I used to crave my night time tea n biccies! What I did last time and have been doing now is getting on with the little jobs I've been putting off and last night I dug out my foot spa and had a bit of pampering, I had new hair curlers that have never been out of the box so I tried them out too! I also make a big mug of redbush tea and have downloaded books on my kindle, I look on this forum , watch a film and have even looked online at clothes I'm going to get once I've lost the weight... I've added them to the shopping basket online! All these things have curbed my evening snacking. I know it is anti social but I managed to go out for lunch and have a tetra pack and a water and it was fine, yes my friends rolled their eyes at me but they understand. Just picture the new confident you and all the days and evenings you can spend enjoying your new self in your confident sexy new look ;) you can do it. Be positive, tell yourself this is what you want and that you're going to do this no matter what. In 12 weeks you'll be so pleased that you stuck with it and know that those evenings with no wine and pizza etc really don't matter. Good luck hun

Weight loss for ss and ss+ are the same - it amazes me that people want to do straight ss! :) With the not being able to eat thing - you're choosing to do a diet that will give you amazing weight loss results if you commit properly to it. Give yourself a good 2 week run of sticking to it 100% and remind yourself it's you choosing to do this rather than people telling you that you can’t eat! Once you see the numbers dropping and your confidence returning your motivation is boosted and boosted and boosted. You do need to commit to it 100% but it will give you amazing results in return! Stick to it starting now for 2 weeks and you'll see what I mean! :)

Thanks for the advice. I have written a list of things to keep me busy in the evenings and have switched to sole source. I really look forward to my evening meal now even though it is small, makes me realise how large portions I was having before. Never thought I would appreciate a tiny chicken salad so much! But compared to not being able to eat anything at all it is a luxury! Will keep you posted on my weigh in next week. xx
