has anyone successfully lost weight whilst giving up smoking??

I stopped smoking 3 months ago and use an electronic cigarette now. I'm addicted to it and don't miss the real fags at all. I'm losing weight slowly.

That's great welldone,im not sure I can do both at once :( do you have nibble on certain foods or just use the e cig for cravings?

Just like to add that I gave up smoking 2 years ago using patches. It lasted for 6 months but I gained 2 stone!! Stress of a new job finally made me start smoking again but I did quickly lose the 2 stone I'd gained. To me using an e cig is just like smoking so if I'm in need of a smoke I vape instead :). and it doesn't make me want to eat more either. It's the hand to mouth bit that I need and vaping stops me missing that.

If you're anything like me. You'll love it and won't look back. Good luck with it if you decide to try it please post back to let me know how you're getting on with it.

I stopped smoking 14mths ago...originally I lost a stone as I dieted whilst quitting smoking...I have since yo-yoed and am currently 2 stone heavier than when I first quit :-(. I do however believe it is possible to quit smoking and lose weight at the same time, I found dieting helped give me something else to concentrate on and take my mind off the cravings. Good luck xx

It will be hard but if your focused and really good at sticking to things u will be fine. Just take one day at a time.
Good luck

I quit with tablets did slim fast at same time and lost 3 stone have been maintaining since november - can be done good luck x

I'm another vaper. E cigs are brilliant as they fulfill that craving. They're a bit strange to get used to at first but once you've started you really don't want to go back. Especially as you can get lots of lovely flavours, I only know one person who's stuck with tobaco.

thanks for replies, where is the best place to get vaping cigarettes? Can you get them in shops or is it an online thing?

I got mine from www.nicolites.com but I've noticed the ones that you have to put oil in yourself are very popular lately and have hundreds of flavours. They seem to sell them on most markets I've been to.

You can get them from shops or online. I'd probably say going to a shop to get your first one would be best as they'll be able to advise you on things like what strength liquid you need and what cigarette will suit you best. If you google e cigarette and where you live you should find somewhere local.

I got my ecig from the nicolite website but I have noticed recently that the ones were you put the oil in yourself seem to be very popular and come in hundreds of different flavours. They sell them on most markets.

Another vaper here - I gave up ages ago but have since been on and off the cigs (usually when I've had a drink). The vapour e cigs are fantastic, I have been using mine all week and managed to stick to the diet no problem. As cherry-blossom says, they really do stop the cravings. Currently having a mix of tobacco and apple and it's lovely - couldn't recommend enough! I honestly don't think I could have done it without them, stopping smoking makes me run to the biscuit tin like there's no tomorrow!

I stopped smoking 2 years ago, joined slimming world 2 months later and here I am. 8st 8.5lbs down and nearly at target. Do it! Lol

oh and I used patches and read the Allen Carr easy way book

I stopped for good two years ago in May using nicotine lozenges - best thing I ever did! Doing SW at the same time really helped as I couldn't just go mad and eat everything without going off plan so it kept me focused. When I ditched the lozenges I swapped them for fruity sugar free sweets (1.5 syns for 2 sweets from memory) and that worked really well. I think I only had one week where I gained and went on to lose 5.5 stone.

Well done to everyone who has given up - it's so hard! x

wow some really inspiring stories welldone all of you :) Rochelle your comment blew me away,I ordered an ecig off internet lastnight so going to try that,im scared but excited at the same time.First weigh in this morning & ive lost 4 lb despite blip at the wknd so im happy with that

I quit smoking using Champix six months into slimming world. I also went to a smoking cessation counsellor at my doctors once a week. She asked me at the beginning how much weight would I consider gaining and I told her none I would lose. And I did. I've lost a total of 5 stone now and been over a year since my last cigarette. I think my mindset is all or nothing. In my head if I continued to smoke I would have eventually gained weight again and quit the gym because I was still being unhealthy in one way instead the "new me" was a slim non smoker who goes to the gym 3 times a week. Good luck :)

brilliant welldone :) my ecig arrived today bit unsure how to put the vaper in but hopefully get to grips with it later. You have achieved my 2 main obstacles to overcome you must be chuffed to bits xx
