ok so my shakes are 200ml water mix and was wondering if i could swap say 100ml for skimmed milk so a 50/50 mix? I asked the company and they said stick to water but wanted to know if anyone else has mixed at all and if so what were the results before i start wasting shakes, thanx

TBH, milk has lactose (milk sugar) in, and therefore will add to the carb count. This may well affect ketosis. Then you will probably lose the advantage of ketosis, and defeat one of the main advantages of a VLCD.

To do the least damage you'd have to mix skimmed milk with water, which is barely worth it, as by then it's nearly all water anyway, and you wouldn't taste the difference.

Prob best to stick to the instructions and get your money's worth of the product.

Sadly VLCD products aren't 'nice', it is like taking your medicine to achieve a purpose, but these things have to be done to get these results :)

If the official advice is stick with water then I would do that, they know what they're talking about. 400ml every day soon adds up in calories and carbs.

yeah thanks girls as i expected, water it is then and its not even so much the taste it was more of a case of wanting to feel full a little longer x

Don't think the milk would even do that to be honest

Thanks Shapna, ive actually started having this now, i picked one up a tetley one its green tea with lemon and is lovely x

Lemon means citric acid which can kick you out of ketosis

That's far safer for you. Trust me, getting back into ketosis can be a real struggle as I've had numerous issues getting knocked out and trying to get back, so if you can stay in it do so as it's far better for you in the long run (even if just for your mental health from the stress of shouting at the scales )
