VeggieBev’s New 2014 Diary – The Final Countdown to Target....

Happy New Year everyone!

Since I haven't really been on here much over the past few months and now that we’re into the New Year I thought best to start completely afresh with a new diary. For anyone who might be interested in the old one you can find it here. For anyone who can’t really be bothered reading it (and I can’t really blame you!), here’s a quick summary.....

I started my Slimming World journey in November 2012 weighing 13st8lb. My main aim was to get fitter and slimmer for my 30[SUP]th[/SUP] birthday in July 2013 and for my holiday to Florida in October 2013. I’m really pleased with my progress and at my last weigh in (27 December 2013), I was 10st6.5lb which means I’ve lost a total of 3st1.5lb in just over a year. Admittedly I’ve over indulged slightly since then so I’m preparing myself for a bit of a gain at my next weigh in but hopefully I’ll be able to get myself to my target weight of 9st10lb fairly soon.

Although I’ve only got around 10lb or so to lose, I’m not going to set myself a target date. I think it may be a long journey as I’ve got so much going on just now I don’t know how well I’ll stick to plan. As long as things move in the right direction, however slowly, then I’ll be happy.

As well as losing that last little bit of weight, I really want to get fit and tone up this year so I’m joining the gym next week with a friend. I’m really determined that I won’t end up being one of those people who join in January and stop going by February though! I almost completed Couch to 5k last year so I’m hoping to start running again. Since it isn’t great weather for running outdoors (particularly here in Scotland!), I want to really focus on that at the gym.

Food wise, I'm usually pretty on plan during the week when I'm at work but things can go off the rails a bit at the weekend. I'm going to try my hardest to at least keep my SW head on at the weekend and make reasonable choices even if it's not always totally on plan. Surely 5 days on plan is better than none???? I'll try and post my food on here daily at least during the week then I'll confess my sins (or should that be syns!!) on a Monday morning...!

Please pop by and say hello. The support of other Minimin-ers on my last diary was invaluable so it would be great to have that again.

Hi xmisskx, thanks for subscribing.

Well done on the 4lb loss already in 2014 - that's amazing!

thanks toots :)
started back last week...had planned to have the full 2 weeks off but honestly, after a week of kicking the backside out of it (xmas week) i was just like EURGH!...i need some superfree in my life lol

better that than the opposite though i suppose lol

been busy today making a few things to do me all week at work/snacks etc. i'm off on a monday and do this every week which always seems a thought at the time but it's so worth it just to be prepared!x

It must be really handy being off on a Monday so you can prepare for the week ahead. Long may this motivation continue for both of us :)

Subscribing huni!

Glad to see you back and feeling so positive! :) Funny actually as I was up in bonny Scotland over Xmas and thought of you as I was going over the Forth Bridge!

Tell me more about the man and the job! Sounds like life is fandabbydozey heading into 2014!
I think I'm right in saying you've stepped up at work because your boss is quite ill? I hope he's doing ok.

Wowzer, target really doesnt seem far away for you at all! Looking forward to seeing you complete the journey!

Hi there!

My boss is doing well and is back at work part time which is taking some of the stresses away from me. I'm still doing some of the extra work though which is good and I'm hoping that my boss will see some potential there and maybe invest in some further training for me....

New man is lovely :) We've been spending loads of time together and it's really nice just getting to know one another. We're looking forward to our long weekend in London at the end of January now... I can't wait!!

I hope you enjoyed your new year in Scotland - where about were you?

Target might seem a little further away after WI tonight  but I'm determined to go for it however long it takes xx

So yesterday didn't go quite as well as it could have and I went a tiny bit over syns. Considering what I have been eating over the past few weeks though, I reckon I did pretty well in comparison so I'm not going to beat myself up too much over half a syn!

6 January
Breakfast
Toast (HEB) with banana
Morning 2 small pears
Lunch Heinz carrot & coriander soup (8 syns), a wholemeal roll (HEB) and a WW yogurt
Afternoon 2 Celebrations (4 syns) and a banana
Dinner Vegetable risotto (HEA for parmesan)
Evening 2 Fruitella (2 syns) and a small refresher bar (1.5 syns)
TOTAL SYNS - 15.5
BODY MAGIC - None

For today, I've already had 7 syns worth of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes with 0.5 HEA milk for breakfast, I've got a Mugshot for lunch and some fruit and yogurt to snack on. I'll be short for time after WI because I've got a friend coming to visit later so I'll probably just use my HEBs and remaining HEA for a toasted sandwich for dinner.

I'm a bit nervous for WI tonight but I'll be glad once it's over and done with so I know where I am and can refocus on my target.

Popping by to subscribe, look forward to following your journey to the last 10lbs, you've done great so far xx

Thanks Bev. I think it may be a long journey to get rid of these last 10lbs but it'll be worth it. I'm definitely not going to stop now after what I've achieved in the last year. You guys will keep me going I'm sure :) x

Hey Bev, just spotted your new diary link so I'm here to subscribe. Looking forward to chasing 9st10lbs with you :) xx

Hi Sarah, thanks for subscribing. I've just noticed that we're around the same weight now and have the same target. It'll be nice to follow each other's progress. I hear that the last stone can be hard to shift but I'm sure we can do it! x

Oh there's no way you're stopping yet missy, we're not gonna let ya! ;) After all the hard work you've put in you deserve to get to target, im sure like you say these last 10lbs will be tough, but you'll do it in the end.

I hope I feel as motivated as you at the final stage of weight loss xx

We sure can Bev! Like Ging says below - we need to make sure we keep whipping each other back into shape when we need it!xx

Not a good start to today for me, I am officially here to confess my sins (or syns I suppose...!!!).

I went to WI last night and had gained a whopping 4lb  I had missed WI last week so that really was from over the whole Christmas/New Year period so I suppose not quite as horrendous as it first seems but I'm still not overly happy with that result. Quite honestly though, it wasn't unexpected. I could tell when I put my work trousers on on Monday morning that they were much tighter around the waist than they'd been just two weeks ago. After WI, I had a bit of a feast on chocolate and other leftover Christmas sweets. The good thing now though is that there's not really anything like that left in the house so hopefully I can start afresh (again!) today and not give in to temptation quite as easily as I have been doing these past two weeks.

After my immense feast last night, I'm really bloated and uncomfortable today so I haven't bothered with breakfast yet. I'll have some fruit mid-morning and then I'll pop to the supermarket and try and pick up something SW friendly for lunch. I've got leftover vegetable curry for dinner which is 6.5 syns but I'm going to have it for the sake of using it up. I'll probably have it with plenty of boiled rice. Since my danger time seems to be the evenings, I'm glad I'm going to the cinema tonight to see Mandela which will keep me away from temptation!
