Started atkins today

Hi everyone!

I've followed Atkins before in the past but stopped because I was doing it by ear so was craving healthy food after a while, in retrospect I wasn't eating enough vegetables or measuring carbs, but I did lose a lot of weight of atkins and enjoyed it, so i'm giving it another go. I intend to follow the plan properly and get enough veggies in, so far so good!

Today I have had scrambled eggs with ham and cream cheese for breakfast, then for a quick late lunch I had ready cooked chicken legs and thighs, and this evening I am going to have a proper beefburger with salad. Felt really full from my meals so far!

Only thing I haven't done right is the milk, i'm on 'the one' milk, but once this bottle has gone i'll be getting either cream to dilute or finding some low carb milk for my cups of tea.

My weight has been going up and up so I feel really glad that I am doing something about it that is going to work. I'm going to stick with it through to maintaince hopefully, i'd like to lose about 1 stone 10lbs (24 lbs).

So hi everyone! Look forward to sharing tips :D

good luck ........ can you get low carb milk ? xxx

Thank you :D

Apparently so! Its the lactose in milk which bumps up the carbs, so i'm going to look at the carb content on lactose-free dairy milk, they sell it in tescos.

I weighed this morning, after 2 days on atkins, and have lost 3 lbs, woohoo! :D

For tea tonight I had a *gorgeous* tea - chicken breast stuffed with garlic cream cheese, and wrapped in bacon, and baked, with a little stir fry veggies. Absolutely gorgeous!

I tried the atkins chocolate decadence bar, that' really yummy and really filling, although my appetite has decreased tons in the last couple of days.

Soya milk is good for low-carbers. If you want some really healthy low-carb recipes and you're fed up of eating meat - then google the net for vegetarian low carb forums and recipes or buy Rose Elliots cook books from Amazon. GIve you health and variety. I can vouch for the recipes - they're delicious! As soon as RTM allows it, I'll be incorporating some of the recipes into my meals!

Thanks Deb G, don't really like soya milk from my vegan days! But will look into the veggie low-carb recipes when I fancy a change. I got a good book from amazon today called "The big book of low-carb recipes" which looks good!
