LighterLife Men's Forum

It has been suggested to me that if tere were enough men here, that it might be possible to have a men's forum.

I think this is a great idea - perhaps if you are a man and you agree, you could post in this thread so that the mods have an idea of how many men might join in.

Cheers
Mike

I am not a man, but I think that is a very valid request!! Would be nice for the guys to have a place to discuss the males issues during this thing without having to trawl through all the girly bits!!

But don't expect to keep us out all the time!!! Just like a clubhouse....a "no girls allowed" sign never works!!! :D

Agreed - women welcome to prowl!

hmmm that's what we like to hear :D

I love the idea of a men's board

Maybe a general one though for all men on a VLCD rather than just Lighter Life?

I know we have a new Lipotrim member starting tomorrow. We could put it in the general VLCD place.

What do you think?

I think it would be great as a general VLCD one, would then welcome all the men we have too.

Fab!

Yes - that would be better than nothing I guess. I'd rather have it just for LL though as there are differences and it can confuse people about what is allowed and what is not.

Would it not be better having it somewhere other than VLCD then users of any diet could use it. There were a couple of men on WW but their posts died off, I think we scared them away.

I know there are a couple of men on SW too...

I don't think so Starlight.
I for one do not use the general weight loss boards.
I am absolutely not interested in anything to do with WeightWatchers and that sort of diet and I would not bother contributing or reading a thread that covers so-called diets like WW.

I am sure that I am not alone in this.

An interesting question though - is there a certain zeal about VLCD's?

Several people on LL that I have spoken to have nothing but scorn for WW yet praise LL, and I have to say that the evidence does seem to point to the fact that VLCDs are the most effective way of losing a lot of weight. Perhaps WW is Ok for those with a few pounds to lose though.

I have never heard scorn to the other plans, other then the fact they take such a long time. Well, when you have a lot to lose that is. So I think that is why LLers feel so strongly that LL is a better plan. For our needs it is, as if you do it by more 'traditional' methods, you soon lose motivation well before you are even remotely close to anything resembling a goal!!

If anything, i hear people criticising LL because they believe that as soon as we start eating again we will put all the weight back on and up to that point we are all anorexic, its dangerous and no reputable GP worth his salt will recommend it.

To be honest, i just don't discuss it with people so i can have a quiet life.

People will always make generalised remarks rather than actually research the facts.

Its a defence mechanism. No-one likes to think they backed the wrong horse.

Nothing wrong with WW. They have many success stories.

The perfect diet is the one that is working for you at your present time.

I do agree that it would be confusing to mix a VLCD forum with something like WW though.

We'll see what we can come up with :)

Mike,

I totally agree with you, I have tried WW and SW, and was actually on SW for 8 months and despite following the diet plan my weight yo-yo'd throughout the entire experience to the point that I figured this wasn't going to work, especially after finishing off with a 2lb gain!!

This is a totally different diet plan to Cambridge, IPD, WW, SW, and every tea and drug concoction that is that out there. LL is unique in its approach to dieting, it is the only one that offers the councilling, so think it should have it's own forum.

What an arrogant post. You obviously didnt take the time to look at my ticker then. Ive lost almost 10 stones on WW. How dare you refer to it as a 'so called diet'

My suggestion for a general forum was because of the male angle, I think men are possibly put off by posting a lot of the time because theyre so outnumbered.

If you cant be bothered reading or supporting people on other diets as well, maybe Minimins isnt the place for you.
