Age and rate of weightloss

Is it true that it's more difficult to lose weight the older you get? I've been looking through posts and especially at weight trackers and sometimes I see people who started off with a similar weight to me but seem to be losing more weight quicker than I am.

Now, reading the posts I have guessed that these people are younger than me - I'm 49, so I'm wondering if the younger you are, the quicker you lose. My daughter is on Lipotrim and she has lost more than me, even though I have more to lose and I am more active than she is. She's 20.

So, does anyone know if this is true?

I think sex, height and activity are the two things that I find makes a difference.

Don't know if it's true but I'm 46 and a weight loss snail! Maybe there's something in it!

My lipolady said that me being 18 will probably slow down my weight loss! so im not sure! I think that everyone may just be different :)

It is true that you need less calories as you get older. I think it's about 7 calories less a day every year after the age of 30, then more again after you reach menopause because of the loss of muscle.

A lady in her 60's will need about 200 less calories as another in her 30's who is the same height and weight.

That's just the resting metobolic rate, and of course, there is more chance that a younger person is more physically active during the day with more stamina to dance the night away ;)

Hmmm thats interesting.....thats why you might gain more weight as you get older!
