Hello

I am starting to diet tomorrow. I am 16st 12lb and devastated. I knew I was very overweight, but never really thought i'd be nearly 17 stone. I am a size 22/24, not really sure how I got here :)D) it's kind of creeped up on me!

I am going on holiday in September and would like to get down to a nice size 12/14 by then, i'm not too concerned with my weight as long as I feel healthy and look healthy :)

I am going to count cals but incorporate slim fast shakes for convenience. I thought about maybe having a 600cal breakfast and slim fast for lunch and tea as I tend to overdo it at tea time. Then maybe have a fruit salad of an evening? Does that sound ok?

I'm looking forward to getting started now, and hope to get to know you all better.

Hi Kate,

:welcome:

Welcome and I hope you will make yourself at home and if you need any help be sure to ask.

Firstly you are right to get started now in good time for your September holiday. Your plan looks good and with some exercise like walking thrown in, you will achieve your goal.

You can do this!

There is a Slim fast challenge just started today, perhaps you might like to join in to help keep you motivated.

Also, we would love to have you join us stepping it out for 2008....here is another link.

Hi Kate, come and join in on the calorie counters chat thread. This board seemed kinda quiet but now calorie counters are crawling out of the woodwork!

Welcome, Kate!

Making the decision to do something about your weight - and then following through - is a big step forward.

I love the freedom and adaptability of calorie counting. If you overdo it one day (or several!) you can cut back a little for the next few days or weeks to compensate - or simply accept a slightly lower loss that week. After a while counting calories becomes second nature. I find it especially useful for maintaining.

Good luck, and keep posting.

HI Kate and welcome,

Here's to a successful weightloss journey:)

As someone else has said, the freedom of cal counting is really good, as you don't ever have to deprive yourself of anything.
