Hi .. I have been doing weight watchers and have decided to give slimming world a try.

I have just telephoned and I go to my first meeting on Wednesday evening.

Im so curious and as I don't really know that much about the diet (other than red are meat days and green are pasta days) I just wondered if you could explain a bit about it to me and explain the syns as Im not sure about those!

Many Thanks

xx

Heya, I did SW last year. Basically it is all based on the green and red days. On red days it is basically no/low carb so anything meat/fishwise is "free" in that you can eat as much of it as you like until you feel full. Green days is the other way round and protein is limited so you can have as much pasta/potatoes/bread etc as you want but you cant have the protein.

Each day there is a certain amount of the opposite colour food you can have, and no matter what day you are on there are completely free foods such as most veg where you can eat as much as you want. Then there are syns. Foods which are not part of your colour day are given syns points, and everyone has a certain number of points to "spend" each day on syns, although these are not like WW in that they are a maximum, NOT a suggested target. If you dont spend your syns you will lose faster, as I discovered!!

Syns are basically all the naughty "SYNthetic" things like chocolate, cake etc that diets normally limit, along with carbs on a red day and protein foods on a green day, and things like processed foods which are high in fat, salt etc.

hope that helps!! xx

up to 15 which meeting are you going to? x

Core is simialr the differences being that on core you can have meat and carbs at same meal but you have to have 3 meals a day and can only snack on fruit and veg between meals you then get 21 points per week to use on sweets booze bread etc

I really liked core...but then I liked SW too. I didn't find them similar.

Wasn't too good on my portion sizes with core:eek: and I think I probably underate on SW (possibly got myself into ketosis:eek:), but I don't think that's possible now as SW has changed a bit since.

Both good plans if you can be reasonably sensible.;)
