hi all

well today s day one of my last ever restart - amd just back from my cdc armed with a fresh supply and a lovely new CD shaker/beaker

all very exciting
except it doesnt work very well imho - just had my fist shake made in it and have left half of it in the bottom as a lumpy coagulated mess

any tips please?

LOL my cdc showed me them but I didn't believe it would mix it right jsut by shaking it when you need a decent electric whisk to get it right! You should get the mix-a-mug from ebay, cheap and has a whisk type thing at the bottom, lots of people say they are great for work etc.

I buy tetris bricks for work, I keep one in my desk drawer, one in my car glove compartment and one in my bag. I have never got an excuse not to have a meal. The only time I use mixers is at home when I have access to an electric whisk. I can drink them if they're lumpy urgggh!

I was a bit sceptical when I saw them, I am lucky to have a kitchen in my office (bit strange, I know) and someone did CD a couple of years back so there is a nice hand blender and container for me to use.

Oh I tried a banana tetra yesterday for first time and didn't like the after taste then couldn't finish it, yuk, not the same as shakes atall.

The new shaker is exactly the same as the maximuscle one I use. They do work but you have to really really shake hard and furious for a minute or so to be sure of no lumps - think of it as an extra mini workout! (and make sure the strainer-meshy thingy is in place under the lid - oh and only do this for cold shakes). Water in first - powder on top works best.
If your shake is all powder lumps then you are being a bit too limp wristed with your shaker - put some welly into it :D

Add water first, the powder and then shake like mad LOL. I've never used the CD one's but do have 2 similar and never had that problem.

Though they are never going to be the same as when you use blender, I still think they are worth having. I usually leave one in the car so there are no excuses when I'm SSing.

Dear Slushy, My mistake for not briefing you.

as lindylou says.' Water in first, then the shake.' Otherwise you will get the sticky clag at the bottom that you described.

Then check it's fully screwed up & not cross threaded, then give it your best shaking. Either do it whilst making a loud Grrrrr!!!! noise. Or pretend you're mixing a vodka martini "shaken not stirred" for whichever bond you like best" ( personally it's probably Timothy Dalton. The new Craig character did nothing for me at all. I thought bond was suave, sensual & sophisticated. When he got into his DJ for the poke game he looked like the hotel bouncer! sorry to go off on one on your thread, but I only saw the new Casino royal a few days ago. What a disappointment.)

PS if doing it with hot drinks give it a gentle shake then release the pressure by opening the Spout. Repeat til air is at same temp as fluid & no further 'burping' occurs, then give it the big mix.

So sorry for the omission. I must have either got distracted or assumed your profession would give you expertise in all things spill-able.

best wishes & be good xx

I don't like the Cambridge shaker at all :(

That's a shame ...I've heard it speak v highly of you :p

i tried one the other day and i didnt have any lumps? I put in water added powder and shaked like fury. After a minute of vigarous shaking it was lovely and not lumpy, although it did take 20 minutes for my bingo wings to stop shaking :D

I have used this a few times now and I think for using in somewhere that dosn't have power for a blender, it is very good.

Always add powder to the water and think of someone you don't like and shake the hell out of them. lol
